Judkins

Top Devy RBs

For this article, I will discuss my top four Devy RBs, excluding incoming 2024 rookies, which I’ve already discussed here.

TreVeyon Henderson (RB – OSU)

This assumes Henderson returns to OSU for the 2024 collegiate season, which is the chatter I’ve been hearing. Henderson is listed at 5’10” 212 lbs. which gives him a nice prototypical size for an NFL RB.

Henderson ran for 854 yards and 11 TDs for the Buckeyes last year while splitting time with Miyan “Meatball” Williams (RB – OSU) and Deamonte “Chip” Trayanum (RB – OSU). I would’ve liked to see Henderson take more of a command of the backfield overall, but given his size-speed combo and production from last year, he’s really the only back someone could make a case for as Devy RB1.

Quinshon Judkins (RB – Ole Miss)

Judkins slots in as my Devy RB2, running for 1052 yards and 15 TDs last year for the Rebels. Standing at 5’11” and 210 lbs., Judkins is another back with prototypical NFL size. He’s draft-eligible in 2025 and could look to make the jump to the league sooner rather than later.

Judkins has little competition for carries at Ole Miss and has the backfield mostly to himself which traditionally lends itself to solid production, especially from the RB spot when usually only one is on the field at the same time.

Nicholas Singleton (RB – PSU)

I’m not going to lie, there is some helmet scouting that goes into ranking Singleton this high. I love Big Ten RBs in general as they face stiff defensive competition and usually have beefed-up offensive lines to run behind. Further, PSU housed one of my favorite college RBs of all time: Saquon Barkley (RB – NYG). At 6’0” 224 lbs., Singleton is a big-bodied back that can also take it to the house from anywhere on the field.

Singleton only ran for 702 yards and 8 TDs for the Nittany Lions last season, but I think a lot of that can be attributed to him playing banged up. When I watched Singleton play this year, I saw a man without the same burst he had the year prior, but I think he was playing through injuries.

CJ Baxter (RB – Texas)

Baxter only ran for 595 yards and 4 TDs last year for the Longhorns, but he played behind Johnathon Brooks (RB – Texas) for most of the season. Baxter was only a freshman last year and his skillset was still too tempting for Texas to keep off the field.

Baxter stands at 6’1” 218 lbs. and is a bruiser with his running style. Baxter also has the breakaway speed to hit the edge and go when he needs to. Brooks heading to the NFL opens up the door for Baxter to take over the Longhorns backfield for 2024, a role in which I think he will excel.

Shocker Special – Cole Cabana (RB – Michigan)

Dexter hosts Saline

While he’s not ranked in my top four, I love Cole Cabana of the Wolverines as Blake Corum (RB – Michigan) and Donovan Edwards (RB – Michigan) are both departing for the 2024 NFL Draft. You likely haven’t heard of him but I’m here to put you on alert. Michigan is a running team at heart and will always look to pound the rock, Cabana could do just that in 2024.
