2024 Rookie RB Landscape

As the 2023 collegiate season comes to a close with another momentous bowl season, the 2024 NFL draft and subsequent dynasty rookie drafts are just around the corner. Today, I will highlight my top four RBs coming into the NFL draft as the RB market seems muddy with guys like TreVeyon Henderson and Rocket Sanders choosing to remain in college.

corum

Blake Corum (RB – Michigan)

Corum tops my list of incoming 2024 rookies RBs mainly because he is Mr. Consistency. Corum is a bowling ball of a man at 5’8” and 214 lbs and ran for 1,028 yards and 24 TDs (yes, you read that right – TWENTY-FOUR TDs) in 2023 for the Wolverines. He only averaged 4.7 YPC, which I’d like to see better, but playing in the grind of the Big Ten, I’ll give him a pass.

Corum enters the draft after a stellar senior season for Michigan and should see the 2nd-3rd round draft capital in the actual NFL Draft, making him a surefire first-rounder for 2024 dynasty rookie drafts.

allen

Braelon Allen (RB – Wisconsin)

Another big bruiser from the Big Ten lands second on my board for the best 2024 rookie RB prospects. Allen is a mountain of a man at 6’2” and 245 lbs and has surprising speed for such a big guy.

Allen routinely broke away for huge gains at Wisconsin and ended the 2023 season with 984 yards and 12 TDs for the Badgers. Braelon could use a compliment speed guy to his game in the NFL but can profile as a Derrick Henry style two down grinder at the next level.

brooks

Jonathon Brooks (RB – Texas)

Brooks was setting the NCAA world ablaze in 2023 before his season was cut short by a gruesome knee injury. He should be ready to roll by combining time and will be one of the top backs off the board come NFL draft time.

At 6’0” and 207 lbs, Brooks has the prototypical size for an NFL back and could easily be a bell cow for somebody. Brooks ran for 1,139 yards and 10 TDs while averaging a robust 6.1 YPC across only the games before his injury.

Unlike Corum and Allen above, this was Brooks’ first real season of significant college production as he sat behind Bijan Robinson and Roschon Johnson in 2022. Brooks showed who he is in 2023, and if healthy, he should get good draft capital and be a highly touted RB prospect to target for 2024 dynasty rookie drafts.

benson

Trey Benson (RB – FSU)

Coming in fourth on my 2024 rookie RB list is Trey Benson from FSU. At 6’1” and 221 lbs, Benson is a big-bodied back with wheels, a rare size-speed combination.

This year, Benson ran for 905 yards and 14 TDs for the Seminoles while averaging 5.8 YPC. His announcement to enter the draft was met with a warm welcome from the Devy and Dynasty community. I expect he’ll get around 3rd round draft capital, making him a late-round selection in 2024 dynasty rookie drafts.
