Top 5 Devy WRs

For this article, I’m going to discuss my top five Devy WRs, excluding the incoming 2024 rookies as they’re highly touted and can be discussed at length in a different article. You can find individual analysis on some of these wide receivers in @force_fantasy‘s “NFL Mock Draft Round 1 and the Dynasty Players to Know.”

1. Luther Burden III (WR – Missouri)

Burden is the easy choice for Devy WR1. This kid is a DAWG and caught for 1,197 yards and 8 TDs as a sophomore.

At 5’11” 208 lbs Burden profiles as a big-bodied WR who can line up all I’ve the field and cause problems anywhere he goes.

Look for Burden to be the top 2025 rookie WR1 a year from now. In Devy, invest early and often.

2. Evan Stewart (WR – Transfer Portal)

Evan Stewart is a stud WR from Texas A&M who recently decided to enter the transfer portal. Stewart went for 514 yards and 4 TDs last season as a sophomore for the Aggies. He is 6’0” 175 lbs and is an absolute burner.

Entering the transfer portal means he could be tied to a stellar offense moving forward, thereby vaulting up his numbers and draft stock. I’m hearing Alabama, Texas, and LSU are likely destinations for this star.

3. Zachariah Branch (WR – USC)

Branch

Branch was a frosh in 2023 and still produced 311 yards and two TDs for the Trojans. Branch is 5’10” 175 lbs and is Tyreek Hill (WR – MIA) fast. As he progresses as a player the sky is the ceiling for this speedster.

4. Carnell Tate (WR – OSU)

Tate comes from WRU, also known as Ohio State University. Along with LSU, they’re famous for producing stud WRs in the league. OSU having Marvin Harrison Jr and Emeka Egbuka on the roster in 2023 left Tate with little room to get on the field.

However, MHJ and Egbuka heading to the NFL Draft in 2024 leaves OSU’s WR room wide open for 2024-25. I expect Tate to blow that door open in 2024 and take the league by storm as OSU’s new WR1.

Tate is a big WR at 6’2” 191 lbs and he should flourish as he got to learn how to play collegiate WR from two of the best in the collegiate game.

5. Johntay Cook II (WR – Texas)

I loved Cook coming out and I think he’s going to excel at Texas, as he’s developed a rapport with fellow highly touted frosh Arch Manning at QB. With Xavier Worthy off to the NFL, Cook will get his chance to succeed as the Longhorns WR1 for the 2024 college season.

Whether Ewers or Manning is at the helm, I expect Cook to put up huge numbers and let everyone know who he is. Listed at 6’0” and 186 lbs, Cook could stand to put on a little muscle, though it shouldn’t affect his breakaway speed too much.

Honorable Mention: Makai Lemon (WR – USC)

Lemon

I think he’s the perfect complement WR to Zach Branch and I’m excited to see what their newly acquired QB Will Howard from KSU can do with them.
