Redraft Values

Robert Woods: 2020 Dynasty Profile

28-year-old Robert Woods is now coming off back to back to back 1,000+ yard seasons, establishing himself as a steady and dependable WR. Woods is a crafty route runner with a high football IQ, making him a trusted target of his QB Jared Goff. In 2018 Woods saw 131 targets (13th most in the league), he then followed that up with 140 targets in 2019 (8th most). In addition to being a target magnet, he adds value and fantasy points as a ball carrier. In 2018, Woods carried the ball 19 times for 157 yards and a touchdown bringing his total yards and touchdowns to 1376 and 7. This past season Robert Woods had 17 carries for 115 yards and one touchdown brought his total yards and touchdowns to 1249 and 3. This production equated to 261 PPR points (WR9) in 2018 and 212 PPR points (WR19) in 2019. Woods is a safe bet to be a WR2 in 2020, with the upside of mid-tier WR1 production.

Rookie Redraft Update Part 3

Back in March, I did a four-part series on the incoming rookie class. Now, it’s time to go back through my takes and examine how they’ve changed in the past few months. I’ve included all four of my original articles, and all my live post-draft takes as links at the bottom of this article. In part one, I looked at the progression of top rookie quarterbacks from March until now. Then, in part two, I covered how the consensus top-three running backs pre-NFL Draft have progressed in redraft value. Now, it’s time for part three and a mix of two running backs and two wide receivers. Let’s jump into these four exciting players!

High Upside Dart Throw: Van Jefferson

Van Jefferson is not on anyone’s fantasy radar coming into drafts this season. Quietly selected in the second round of the 2020 draft, Jefferson walks into his rookie season with one of the best offensive schemes in the NFL. Other highly drafted prospects like Jerry Jeudy, CeeDee Lamb, and Michael Pittman are getting the majority of the attention from the fantasy community. However, I believe Van Jefferson may be the most underrated and unheralded rookie of the 2020 class, and someone that could bring you sneaky value this upcoming fantasy season.

Schemes Are Ch-Ch-Changing: The Rams Are Sputtering!

The Los Angeles Rams felt the hangover of a Super Bowl loss in 2019, missing the playoffs with a 9-7 record. They finished 7th in total offense (yards gained) and 13th in total defense. The analytics firm Football Outsiders ranked the 2019 Rams defense 9th. This defense improved significantly over the 2018 version in both metrics while the offense regressed year over year.

Worst Landing Spots: WR 2020 NFL Draft

The Bears were the epitome of average in 2019, finishing the season a mediocre 8-8. They had a lot of issues but wide receivers weren’t one of them., As a matter of fact, their issues were more so on the quarterback. Mitch Trubisky is not very good, but his receivers are. Chicago already has plenty of talented young pass-catchers in Allen Robinson and Anthony Miller, and adequate receivers in Taylor Gabriel and Javon Wims.

In the Scope: Week 8

Due to recent injuries, breakouts, and trades, there seems to be a buzz around the waiver wire for the first time in a while heading into Week 8.And while you’re still using your FAAB and waiver claims on priority adds like Ty Johnson and Kenny Stills (both of whom were featured in this column earlier this season), it’s still important to take your chance on a flier to fill out your bench once the waivers have cleared. As always, here are your Week 8 “In the Scope” candidates who have the potential to be next week’s top waiver claims

Factory Divisional Nuggets: NFC West #2

Jimmy G is starting to look like the guy the 49ers brought in from the Patriots, who just found ways to win games. You might not think he’s showing flashy numbers on the fantasy stat sheets, but his play is approaching what we believe he can be. You can’t argue the fact that he just wins games! He’s QB7 in completion percentage, at 69%, which is even better than the end of season explosion upon his arrival in Santa Clara. Currently a QB2 in fantasy production, the arrow is pointing up as he continues to build back up his time under center, and his rapport with a relatively inexperienced WR corps. He’s clutch! But can he really be a QB1? I feel he is a high-end QB2, and that is what he is.

Holdouts, retirements, trades, extensions, and a whole lot of Antonio Brown drama made this preseason one for the books. And Week 1 of the regular season only followed the trend. Big Plays, coming-out parties, injuries, and total disappointments rocked both the NFL and the fantasy world Sunday. But, if we thought we saw it all in the preseason and Week 1, Week 2 should be just as exciting. The waiver wire and free agency should be in full effect this week.
