One Week Ahead: Part 7

Playing on just over 50% of the offensive snaps for the season, tight end Mo Alie-Cox may be a decent pick up in a position that is so hit or miss. Scoring touchdowns in back-to-back weeks, Alie-Cox is a big target who can pose as a real red-zone threat. This past week, Alie-Cox played fewer snaps and ran fewer routes than fellow tight end Jack Doyle. However, he drew more targets and produced better fantasy numbers than him. Alie-Cox he yet to log more than three catches in a game and has recorded over 30 yards in just two contests. Most likely, he will be a touchdown-dependent player.

Redraft Waiver Wire Grind: Week 8

We know how valuable starting quarterbacks are in Superflex fantasy football because there are just so few of them, especially when the injuries and bye weeks start to pile up. Joe Flacco just got traded to the Jets after it appears that Zach Wilson is going to be down for a few weeks. Flacco isn’t as great of an option as Newton and Geno because his rushing ability simply does not exist, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be putting some FAAB to acquire a starting quarterback.

49ers backfield

Knee Deep in Muddy Backfields: The 49ers

After the NFL Draft, there are quite a few backfields without a clear picture of who the workload is going to fall on. While it’s possible some backfields continue as committees, more than likely, a few of them will have one guy receive a large volume of the work. That’s what I’m aiming to dive into in this series: who will emerge from the muddy backfields and cement their place as a fantasy value this season?

Week 9 Thursday Night Storylines

I love writing these storyline pieces. I will go through the games and discuss one dynasty-relevant storyline per team that I’m excited to see. Usually, I’ll split the games into two sets, covering the early games in one story and the later games in another. Also, I’ll do a special spotlight on the Thursday night game from time to time, as that’s a midweek contest. I like to go into more detail for that game, just for a change of pace. We all play fantasy football to enhance our enjoyment of football, and I’m trying to add to that sense of happiness here. Fun is the most essential part of this hobby for all of us, including me. With that said, let’s jump into Thursday night’s game between the Packers and 49ers!

Week 8 Buy/Sell

We sometimes talk too much in hypotheticals in this piece, so let’s talk about a real trade that went down this week. I dealt David Montgomery and CeeDee Lamb for Tyler Boyd and Le’Veon Bell. My point here is not to talk about myself, but to discuss the process of how the trade came together. Montgomery was a solid if uninspiring piece who was burning a hole on my bench. After losing OBJ to injury and taking hits on both Lamb and DeVante Parker due to quarterback changes, I needed a solid WR to complement my RB-heavy team. I looked up a number of rest-of-season rankings to see what WRs were in the Montgomery area and found that Boyd was right there. This is where I had to read the room.

Raheem Mostert Injury

Raheem Mostert Injury Reaction

Raheem Mostert suffered a high-ankle sprain in Week 6. Unfortunately, this injury is notoriously difficult to overcome, and Mostert will likely require a trip to the injured reserve. Mostert already missed Weeks 3 and 4 with a knee injury, so this is his second significant injury of the 2020 season.

I’m not sure when Mostert will return, but it’s safe to say that he will miss extended time. Given that he’s already had one injury this season, I have significant concerns about whether Mostert will come back for any meaningful portion of the fantasy season. Mostert must miss Weeks 7-9 after going on injured reserve, and I can’t imagine the 49ers will push him back in Week 10 with a Week 11 bye.

The Redraft Wire: Week 4

This weekly article is focused on identifying players who are owned in less than 40% of redraft leagues. These players are going to help your team win this week and every week to come! We are looking for guys you should be able to plug into your starting lineup without hesitation. If you’re the Nick Chubb owner, you definitely need to be reading this. D’Ernest Johnson is on just about every waiver wire and really showed he can produce in Chubb’s absence. Johnson took 13 carries for 95 yards and is surely in line for a similar workload going forward. Reports indicate Chubb’s MCL injury will keep him sidelined for several weeks so this isn’t just a one-week solution.
