The waiver wire was thin last week and that’s something that’s not likely to change for the rest of the season. There was a reason we threw a very healthy amount of FAAB on Elijah Mitchell early in the season because a running back with similar usage is very likely not to show up on the free market again. But this week we do have some, what I would call, good options with a viable path to productive opportunity.
JaMycal Hasty (RB – SF)
Hasty returned from the IR week and was met with a monsoon game against Indianapolis. But that didn’t stop him from being productive in the receiving game. In fact, the second most productive in the receiving game on the entire 49ers’ offense. Only Deebo Samuel earned more targets on Sunday night. Elijah Mitchell hasn’t been someone that earns many targets and it’s looking like a role that Hasty can take over. He’s one of my favorite targets on the waiver wire this week and I don’t mind dropping a little bit of FAAB to acquire the pass-catching back.
Joe Flacco (QB – NYJ)
We know how valuable starting quarterbacks are in Superflex fantasy football because there are just so few of them, especially when the injuries and bye weeks start to pile up. Joe Flacco just got traded to the Jets after it appears that Zach Wilson is going to be down for a few weeks. Flacco isn’t as great of an option as Newton and Geno because his rushing ability simply does not exist, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be putting some FAAB to acquire a starting quarterback.
Boston Scott (RB – PHI)
Miles Sanders went down with an ankle injury and the severity is a little unknown right now. As you know, an opportunity at the running back position is something we always want to acquire. Boston Scott has that as he came into the game and earned a few targets and owned just under a 30% opportunity share. He’s not as sexy of an option as Hasty, but I’m going to harp on it again. When there’s a path to opportunity at the running back position we try to acquire. Scott has that and will likely cost you 0% or 1% of FAAB.
