Marvin Harrison Jr.

Devy Startup Strategy: DFF Factory Fight Club C2C Chronicles V5 – Part 3

The DFF Factory Fight Club C2C startup is officially complete on both the Canton and Campus sides. Now we absorb OTA-Speak for the NFL component and look at several possibilities post-Spring Game looks for the College Football portion. The league has been relatively quiet except for a trade between @jerZ1218 and me last week swapping Marvin Harrison Jr. for Ja’Marr Chase straight up, with me receiving MHJ.

Though it caused ripples in the chat with members offering various opinions, with one GM declaring the deal “insane”, nobody knew that this transaction had been set in motion two months prior when I took Chase at 1.11 and @jerZ1218 drafted MHJ at 2.04. At the time, I had asked for a little sweetener to move him from MHJ to Chase but those talks fell apart with no deal to be had. Fast forward to last week when he started shopping MHJ again to the league, I decided to take a gamble much like DFS Football Bets, and offer the swap heads up. Naturally, my counterpart smashed the offer.

On paper, the deal doesn’t immediately make a ton of sense because you’re essentially trading a proven top 3 WR for a presumptive future top 3 WR. The primary difference is the risk associated with rookies that most GMs aren’t willing to take. But I love MHJ’s profile, Draft Capital, and Landing Spot as Kyler Murray’s WR1 while expecting a Justin Jefferson + Chase-like rookie season and career arc out of the former Ohio State standout. So to me, this was more of a matter of preferring a generational prospect over a seasoned proven asset. I didn’t get the added piece that I wanted (or that most people would need, to do this deal) but when you’re talking about a late second-ish type value in a C2C league, it’s hard for me to reconcile losing a Flag Plant over the plus one. MHJ just happens to be one of the guys I’m willing to lose a little value on acquiring while he’s still affordable. So we’ll see what happens on this front.

Overall, the league has been quiet otherwise. The first four rounds gave us quite a bit of insight into how the DFF Crew and Family view the Devy pipeline for the next few seasons to come. In Part 1 we talked about how the first round of Rookie Drafts might look in 2025, but as you can see by the board below, every class was addressed in the early rounds that has become a staple of deep Devy and C2C Leagues en masse. For brevity, only the first twelve rounds are shown.

The Best Ball aspect of our Campus side will leave much of the college football component in chaos. And quite frankly, I have no idea how it’s going to turn out nor would I even start to handicap this aisle. But it’ll be interesting when we get into the CFB season and waivers start to run. And then again when the CFB season completes and we get into our Freshman Draft next year. I’ll continue to update our audience on any significant developments within the league as they occur as we head into the Summer.
