Week 4 is in the books. We’re on to our Week 5 Starts and Sits. I had a few misses last week, like Daniel Jones, Joe Burrow, Steelers RBs, Tank Dell, Christian Kirk, and Cole Kmet. I’m incredibly sorry to those who sat Kmet because of my article last week. I could’ve won a game in a few leagues had I started him, too. However, we cannot relish too much in the past. Moving on to week 5, Starts and Sits!
Week 5 Starts – Quarterbacks
Anthony Richardson– Indianapolis Colts
Vs. Tennessee Titans
Anthony Richardson is going to be a solid fantasy starter this season. I thought We would have to wait a year for his passing skills to develop, but I believe now I was wrong. He faced a solid Rams DST last week and held in check in the first half of the game. In the second half, Richardson turned on another gear. He faces a porous Tennessee passing defense in week five. Go ahead and fire up Richardson, who should supply plenty of upside in this matchup.Â
Jordan Love – Green Bay PackersÂ
Vs. Las Vegas Raiders
Jordan Love had a tough time last week against the Detroit Lions. Even in a matchup where he struggled, Love still Finished as the QB12 on the week. He has a sneaky rushing upside, with two rushing touchdowns this season. Love currently sits as the QB3 of the year. Keep playing Love till he gives you a reason not to.Â
Sam Howell– Washington Commanders
Vs. Chicago BearsÂ
Howell showed signs of life last week, throwing a touchdown as time expired to lead the Commanders to overtime versus the Eagles. We saw him flash signs of rushing upside with six carries for 40 yards. Although he couldn’t pull out the win, he’ll have a solid opportunity to build upon that momentum against the Chicago Bears.Â
Week 5 Sits – Quarterbacks
Russell Wilson — Denver BroncosÂ
Vs. New York Jets
The Jets showed some serious signs of life against the Chiefs last week. Surprisingly, Zach Wilson could keep the Defense off the field more than once. If Wilson can build on his success and the Defense can stay rested, Wilson will be in for a LONG day against an energized Jets Defense.Â
Dak Prescott – Dallas Cowboys
Vs. San Fransisco 49ersÂ
Dak has had a rough go of it lately. He’s faced some formidable defenses, and his Dallas defense has played so well that Dak hasn’t needed to put the ball in the air. That is the leading cause for his lack of fantasy output this season. Prescott matches up with the San Francisco defense this week, so it won’t get any easier. I’d sit him for this one.Â
Week 5 Starts – Running Backs
Brian Robinson – Washington Commanders
Vs. Chicago Bears
Robinson faced off against the Eagles and Bills back-to-back and had his two lowest fantasy outputs of the season. He’s got an absolute smash matchup against the Bears this week, who’s allowing 115 yards per game on the ground.Â
Breece Hall– New York Jets
Vs. Denver BroncosÂ
Denver is allowing the most rushing yards per game in the league. Their defense is having significant issues, and Breece is in the middle of a complete takeover of the New York backfield. The Jets could find themselves getting up early and running out the clock. In this case, Hall is likely to see an increased workload.Â
Gus Edwards– Baltimore Ravens
Vs. Pittsburgh Steelers
With Kenny Pickett out, I expect this game to be one-sided. Edwards should have a solid day against a defense, allowing 148 rushing Yards per game. In every game this year, Edwards has seen an increase in usage. However, he hasn’t been the most efficient ball carrier. Increased usage against porous defense is a recipe for success.Â
Week 5 Sits – Running Backs
Miles Sanders – Carolina PanthersÂ
Vs. Detroit LionsÂ
In a surprising turn of events, Detroit is giving up the fewest rushing yards per game in the league. I will admit there are possible points in the receiving game for Sanders, but he’s coming off a groin injury. It wouldn’t surprise me to see Hubbard steal some work in the passing game this week. Sanders is a solid avoid for me this week.Â
Rhamondre Stevenson– New England Patriots
Vs. New Orleans Saints
Stevenson has not entirely lived up to his off-season hype thus far. He’s only scored more than 12 fantasy points once this season and is currently the RB23. With Ezekiel Elliott starting to garner more of the rushing work, the upside has suddenly become limited for Stevenson. Look elsewhere in this tough matchup against a stout Saints defense.
Week 5 Starts – Wide Receivers
Zay Flowers – Baltimore RavensÂ
Vs. Pittsburgh SteelersÂ
The Steelers allowed Nico Collins to go ballistic against them last week. They’ve been giving up fantasy points to WRs left and right this season. With Bateman and OBJ both still dealing with injuries, it’s looking like a solid matchup for flowers this week. Put him in your lineups, and don’t think twice about it.Â
Romeo Doubs – Green Bay Packers
Vs. Las Vegas Raiders
Christian Watson finally returned to NFL action last week after a hamstring injury sidelined him to start the season. In Watson’s first game back, Doubs tallied his highest target total of the year(13). Watson may be more athletic and debatably more talented, but Doubs has been a security blanket for first-year QB Jordan Love.Â
Josh Downs – Indianapolis Colts
Vs. Tennessee Titans
I’m playing the rookie this week. Although all Colts pass catchers had a tough time last week, I’m looking for them to bounce back against the Titans. Downs has solidified himself as the second option in this Colts passing attack, and the Titans have been prone to giving up Receiving yards all year. Playing Downs this week is all about the upside. He’s my top Boom/Bust option for the week.Â
Week 5 Sits – Wide Receivers
Calvin Ridley – Jacksonville Jaguars
Vs. Buffalo Bills
Buffalo ranks 4th in Passing yards per game allowed and 5th in completions allowed per game. After recording eight catches in week one, Ridley has yet to top 3 receptions since. Christian Kirk has been the WR1 in Jacksonville each game in the last three weeks. Ridley will be extremely touchdown-dependent against one of the best passing defenses in the NFL.Â
Jerry Jeudy — Denver BroncosÂ
Vs. New York JetsÂ
The Broncos are having difficulty putting Jeudy in a situation to succeed. Courtland Sutton has become Russell Wilson’s favorite target this year, scoring a touchdown in three of four games. The Jets have been pedestrian against the pass this year, ranking 16th in passing yards allowed. Jeudy will be in for another rough fantasy outing with one of the top Corners in the league(Sauce Gardner) on the field.Â
Week 5 Starts – Tight Ends
Tyler Higbee – Los Angeles RamsÂ
Vs. Philadelphia Eagles
Last week, Higbee saw eleven targets in a game that the Rams led 23-0 at halftime. Higbee has posted a TE12 or better finish in 3 of 4 games this season. The Eagles have given up the third-most TE fantasy PPG this year. Higbee is a solid floor-and-ceiling play, one of the top streaming options this week.Â
Zach Ertz – Arizona CardinalsÂ
Vs. Cincinnati Bengals
The Bengals are fourth in points allowed to TEs this year. Ertz has recorded 8+ targets in three of four games this year. He has yet to score a touchdown, bringing down his fantasy points total. This week is an excellent opportunity for him to rectify that, and I’m giving him the green light.Â
Week 5 Sits – Tight Ends
Jake Ferguson— Dallas Cowboys
Vs. San Fransisco 49ers
Ferguson has seen a steady stream of targets in this Dallas offense, recording seven in three out of four games. Even with his usage, he only has one top-10 finish this year. Ferguson faces a stingy San Francisco defense in week five. Even if he continues to see the same usage, I don’t think a TE10 or better finish is in the cards for him.Â
Hunter Henry — New England PatriotsÂ
Vs. New Orleans Saints
After back-to-back top-3 finishes to start the year, Henry has finished as the TE28 and 19 in the last two weeks. In week five, He draws a New Orleans defense known to give TEs a tough time. There are quite a few streaming options available this week. I’d look at one of them instead.
Dallas Goedert – Philadelphia Eagles
Vs. Los Angeles Rams
This sit is zero percent rooted in the matchup this week. Goedert has been awful this year. He has yet to post a finish above TE15. For his price, he’s been an absolute headache for fantasy managers. I’m going to go ahead and give him the sit label this week. At this point, you’re better off streaming the position. Don’t let Goedert handicap your rosters any longer.
