Top Devy Targets for the 2023 + 2024 Classes

As our fantasy football season has come to an end, the off-season begins. It is time to examine some of the most pristine college players in the ’23 and ’24 classes. I will be listing my top-10 Devy targets that I will be frantically trying to snatch up. Whether you are in Devy leagues or trying to stay up to date with the NFL prospects for your Dynasty leagues, this article will be nosediving into these targets.

Bijan Robinson (RB – Texas) 2023

Bijan Robinson is the best Devy running back prospect, end of discussion. What this kid can do on the field is remarkable. Robinson, who is draft-eligible in 2023, burst onto the scene this past season adding runs like the one shown below. Robinson is an ideal three-down back, with excellent size at 6’0″ and 215 lbs. Robinson has the ability to make guys miss, run through a defender, then you look up and he’s 40 yards down the field in the end zone. In 19 games played, Robinson posted gaudy numbers with 1,830 rushing yards, 15 TDs, and an average of 6.5 yards per carry. Oh, and he can catch the ball tallying up 41 receptions for 500 yards and six TDs. This kid can do it all, so if you have the opportunity to snatch him up, don’t hesitate.

TreVeyon Henderson (RB – Ohio State) 2024

Every time Henderson hits the hole, it looks like he was shot out of a cannon. The explosiveness that he possesses is unlike any other prospective RB. Henderson soared into this explosive Ohio State offense just games into the regular season. At 5’10” 215 lbs., he posted 1,248 yards for 15 scores with an average of 6.8 yards per carry while adding 27 receptions for 312 yards and four TDs. He is my clear-cut RB1 in the 2024 class and is certain to have another break-out year next season as Ohio State aims for a National Championship.

Bryce Young  (QB – Alabama) 2023

Heisman winner, Bryce Young, took the college football season by storm this year. Young broke the Alabama passing TD record this season by throwing for 46 TDs, adding 4,503 passing yards all while completing nearly 70% of his passes. Young is an extremely polished passer while providing excellent footwork, with a cannon attached to his shoulder. Assuming Young will declare after the 2023 season, he’ll easily be a top if not the top QB on the board.

Jaxon Smith-Njigba (WR – Ohio State) 2023

Jaxon Smith-Njigba could be 2022’s next big thing. JSN was a part of a receiving core that featured Garrett Wilson and Chris Olave (who could both go in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft), and JSN is better than both in my eyes. JSN, in a crowded WR room, posted some of the most eye-popping stats considering who was on the field with him. JSN collected 95 receptions for 1,606 yards and nine scores leading the team in both receptions and yards. In the Bowl game vs. Utah which he was the featured WR with Wilson and Olave sitting out, JSN posted unheard-of statistics with 15 catches for 347 yards and three TDs. Yes, you read that correctly. If this is any preview of what to expect next year, watch out. I fully expect my WR1 to light up college football next season.

Kayshon Boutte (WR – LSU) 2023

Kayshon Boutte is a WR nobody wants to line up across; he has the ability to score every time he touches the ball. Boutte has tremendous ball catching ability, matched with excellent speed posting a 4.37 forty-time at 17 years old, which would’ve been the fourth fastest in the 2020 NFL Combine. Boutte was a track star as well in high school. Boutte, in limited time this season, posted 38 receptions for 509 yards and nine TDs in six games, good for scoring on 23.7% of his receptions. Wow. Boutte is my current WR2 in the 2023 draft class behind Jaxon Smith-Njigba.

C.J. Stroud – (QB – Ohio State) 2023

Get used to hearing this name. C.J. Stroud is an elite signal-caller, standing at 6’3″ and 218 lbs. he is your prototypical gunslinger. There’s not much Stroud can’t do; some of the throws he has made this season are very impressive for a 20-year-old. Stroud possesses incredible arm talent, sharp decision-making skills, and pinpoint accuracy. Since the game vs. Oregon where he had a shaky first half, he’s been electric for the Buckeyes posting 4,435 yards for 44 TDs while completing over 70% of his passes. Stroud’s eye-opening performance that sold me was his game against #7 Michigan State where he went 32/35 for 432 yards and six TDs. With another year like this, Stroud may climb up this list. “Stroud to JSN for a TD” — get ready to hear that a lot come this Fall.

Sean Tucker (RB – Syracuse) 2023

Maxwell Award semi-finalist Sean Tucker had himself a year, also racking up honors of Doak Walker semi-finalist, First-Team All-ACC, and received All-American honors. Tucker was a huge contributor for the Orange this season adding 1,496 yards and 12 scores, also catching 20 passes for 255 yards and two TDs. Expect Tucker’s production to remain around the same next season because the Orange will be relying on his performance. I currently have Tucker ranked slightly above Gibbs and this race for RB3 could start to heat up come next fall.

Jahmyr Gibbs (RB – Alabama) 2023

Jahmyr Gibbs was the centerpiece this past season for the Yellow Jackets. Gibbs has announced he will be transferring to Alabama to play with the best of the best. Gibbs tallied up 1,206 yards on 232 carries in his career at Georgia Tech. If he is Alabama’s workhorse RB next year as expected, be prepared for Gibbs to have these stats in his next season with the Tide. Gibbs has the speed and agility to run past any defender on the field. What sticks out to me the most is his elusiveness, he can weave through holes and avoid tackles with the best of this class. Gibbs reminds me a lot of Dalvin Cook, who has the size and speed to make defenses hurt. Pound the rock for yards at a time then boom he’ll shake off a defender and it’s a cakewalk to the end zone.

Xavier Worthy (WR – Texas) 2024

Even through the struggles of this past season, Xavier Worthy seemed to be the bright spot of all the darkness for the Longhorns. Now with another “bright spot” being added with Quinn Ewers transferring to Texas, Xavier Worthy’s stock is about to go through the roof. Currently my WR1 in the 2024 class, Worthy could improve his place on this list with a breakout sophomore year which many expect with Ewers as his QB. Worthy stands at 6’1″ and 190 lbs. and is straight-up fast. Worthy can run routes with the best of them and can score from anywhere on the field. Worthy can’t improve his WR1 rankings, but he sure can separate himself from the rest of the pack with a breakout season.

Caleb Williams (QB – Oklahoma/Transfer Portal) 2024

Possibly one of the biggest stories in college football right now is “Where is Caleb Williams going to play football next season?”. The answer is, it doesn’t matter. Wherever Williams ends up is going to win and is QB1 in the 2024 class. Williams was able to beat out Spencer Rattler for the Oklahoma job – no easy task, considering Rattler was an early Heisman favorite and expected to be one of the first QBs off the board in this year’s NFL Draft. Williams is a special talent, when watching his film it’s hard to find any flaws. He can stand in the pocket and deliver a strike downfield, or he can improvise and scramble out of the pocket and throw a rocket on the run, or he can pull the ball down and run for a TD at any point on the field. Whoever lands Caleb Williams, could be in the race for CFP next season.
