The Pro-JuJu Take

Last time in this debate series, @DFF_Ztrain and I broke down the two-sided Derrius Guice debate. He took the side of a third-year breakout for Guice while I took the side that Guice will be a 2020 redraft bust. This time, we’re going to debate JuJu Smith-Schuster. I get the positive outlook this time since I’m going to tell you why I believe Smith-Schuster will return to the WR1 ranks and why I’ll have lots of shares of him in redraft.

Redraft Team Focus: Steelers

In this article series, I’m analyzing every one of the 32 NFL teams and all of their redraft-relevant fantasy assets. It’s a long project, but I want to make sure that you, the reader, have something you can refer to for every team. For each article, I’ll split up the fantasy assets into three categories: high-end assets, usable contributors, and dart throws. Let’s jump into the Steelers.

Eric Ebron to the Steelers

If I had to describe Ebron’s prevailing narrative, I would say that most dynasty owners consider Ebron to be a complete bust, who then had one outlier season in 2018 before fading back to normal in 2019. However, that narrative isn’t real. Ebron was consistently mediocre from 2015-2017, finishing as a high-end TE2 in each year. Both 2018 and 2019 are outliers compared to that stretch of middling performances. To determine the truth about Ebron, we need to go back and look beyond the top-line stats.

A Look Back and Forward: 10 Biggest Busts (Part 1)

In my previous two-part article, I looked at the 10 best draft values from the 2019 redraft season and how much they impacted fantasy teams. Also, I predicted the future and examined whether those players would live up to the same performance in 2020 and whether they would return good value in 2020. However, as most fantasy owners know, identifying busts is just as crucial to success and failure in fantasy football as picking players on the rise. In this two-part article, I will name the 10 biggest busts from the 2019 redraft season. In part one, I will choose five players from the top 50 in ADP, and in part two, I will select five players from ADP between 51-150.

No Mason Around: Rudolph takes over for the injured Big Ben

With news of Ben Roethlisberger being done for the season with an elbow injury, likely requiring Tommy John surgery how does that affect the Steelers fantasy assets. Before we go into what this means for young Mason Rudolph, we are best served to look at when we can reasonably expect Roethlisberger to be out for, and if we can expect him to return to pre-injury form or not.

Breakout Third-Year Wide Receivers, Part 2

Whether you believe in the third-year breakout theory for wide receivers or not, there is a strong case to be made for a number of players from the 2017 NFL Draft class.  I’m going to briefly discuss the notable third-year wide receivers and determine the likelihood that they break out in 2019. Using an arbitrary 25% increase over their best fantasy season to date using PPR scoring, I’m going to assess a percent chance that each player reaches their breakout score THIS season (suffice to say this is assuming the relative health of each player). Here is part two of this piece.

Five Bold Predictions for the 2019 NFL Season

What fun is fantasy football without prognosticating? Well, I’ve decided to have some fact-based fun and made five bold predictions for the coming 2019 season. Only time will tell how strong my predictive powers are, but I’ll be sure to revisit this article after the season concludes to see how I fared. 1. JuJu Smith-Schuster

Trading Post: Nuk Bomb

Welcome back to the semi-regular series “The Trading Post”. One of my favorite aspects of Dynasty Football is making trades. So much so that I actually co-host a podcast on the subject, the DynastyTradesHQ podcast (subscribe today!). I make a lot of trades, partly due to being in 25+ dynasty leagues, partly due to a

JuJu Smith-Schuster: Here to Prove Everybody Wrong

John “JuJu” Smith-Schuster (@TEAM_JUJU9). I looked at him differently than many of the players I evaluate pre-draft and it had nothing to do with his hyphenated last name (okay, so I did wonder what that was about). I was skeptical about how good he is. A couple of years ago, Smith-Schuster was commonly the first
