Week 5 Streamers

In this streaming article, I will provide you the best weekly options to stream quarterback, tight end, and D/ST. In each section, I’ll break down two streamers in detail, both of which will be under 50% owned, according to ESPN’s ownership percentage at the time of writing. Playing the matchups is a crucial feature of redraft fantasy football, and especially in a crazy 2020 season, active fantasy owners will have a massive advantage. I also want to provide added value for each type of streamer this season. I’ll highlight any players from 50-60% owned in each section if they’re superior options to both of my streaming candidates at that specific position. Those players are “probably owned,” but they could be out there in 10-team or shallower formats. I won’t offer analysis on these players, just the names and matchups.

If neither of my two suggested streamers is under 25% ownership percentage, I will give a “super-deep” option. That feature should help those owners playing in deeper leagues with few waiver-wire options. Like the “probably owned” players, I’ll list the players without analysis. I realize that all leagues are different, and I want to accommodate all of my readers.

Darius Slayton Dynasty Profile

Darius Slayton: 2020 Dynasty Profile

Darius Slayton was drafted by the New York Giants with a conditional fifth-round pick in 2019. After missing the first two games with a hamstring injury, he started exceeding expectations. Over the next 14 games, Slayton started establishing a noticeable rapport with fellow rookie Daniel Jones as he led NY in receiving yards, receiving touchdowns, yards per catch, and receiving first downs. It’s rare for a day-three pick to turn out and even rarer for one to turn in such an impressive rookie season. Slayton even finished second on the team in both catches and targets, trailing Golden Tate by one in each category. The combination of talent and opportunity was perfect for Slayton to impress from the jump.

Le'Veon Bell Dynasty Profile

Le’Veon Bell: 2020 Dynasty Profile

It’s been trying times for Le’Veon Bell owners over the last few years. Not only did he hold out the entire 2018 season due to contract disputes but he then signed with the New York Jets in 2019 and was quickly accursed with the Adam Gase hex. 2019 was Bell’s first year under four yards-per-carry since his rookie season (2013) and the lowest target total since he was injured in 2015. He received his lowest carry total (245) since his rookie season, when healthy. Bell finished with 78 targets but if you watched any Jets games you know he was underutilized in the passing attack. Especially considering the lack of short target weapons other than Jamison Crowder. Bell scored just three rushing touchdowns and still finished as the RB16 in PPR leagues last year despite being hindered by the coaching staff and lack of talent surrounding him. Missing the entire 2018 season likely also affected his performance but I’d expect him to be fully reacclimated going forward.

Redraft Values: Part One

Redraft Values: Part One

Paying attention to average draft position (ADP) is the easiest way to gain an edge in your fantasy drafts. So, as we get into the heart of draft season, I thought it would be valuable to take a look at a handful of players that are likely to outperform their ADPs.* There are several great values at each position, and I’d like to explain the rationale behind each selection, so this installment of “Redraft Values” will be the first of two parts.

Holding Pattern: Guys I’m Hanging Onto… For Now

Devin Singletary had some impressive moments in his 2019 rookie campaign. He also spent some time on the bench with a lingering hamstring injury. After starting his season with limited opportunities, Singletary was trusted with 20 carries in week nine. He made the most of that opportunity, finishing as the sixth-best running back that week with 140 rushing yards and 38 yards receiving and added a touchdown. From weeks 11-16, Singletary averaged 17.16 rushes per game and 77.66 rushing yards per game, averaging 4.52 yards per attempt. Not too shabby.

Dynasty Story: Dede Westbrook

Dynasty Story: Dede Westbrook

In a dynasty story, I’ll look at a single player and how his value has fluctuated over time, starting from their college profile. I’ll factor in his NFL stats and generally discuss what he did in each of his NFL seasons. Then, I’ll look at their 2020 prospects before wrapping it up with a final recommendation and dynasty strategy.

Today, it’s time for a deep dive into Dede Westbrook. Let’s jump right in!

#TomBomb: Miami Dolphins

#TomBomb: Miami Dolphins

So let’s get this breakdown started with a little context. While I am plugging Matt Breida in at #3, here, I am prefacing it with the spoiler that his fellow backfield running-mate is grabbing that coveted #1 spot. Nonetheless, by investing pennies on the dollar for Breida, you could very well be stealing this year’s Austin Ekeler. Yes, I just said that. Do I have your attention, now? Okay, maybe Old Tom got a little bit carried away. However, I’m still going to hold to the belief that Breida offers you some real potential value.

2020 rookie busts

2020 Rookie Busts Part One

Now, it’s time to take a different slant on the 2020 rookie class. I want to look at the class from a dynasty perspective, specifically looking at the busts. When we look back in a few years, what players will we regret having selected in our rookie drafts? It’s not too late to move away from these players, so perhaps you might want to consider selling them before their value drops. I’m not necessarily saying that any of these players will completely bust, but I am saying that they won’t live up to their draft cost.

Anthony Miller Dynasty

Anthony Miller: 2020 Dynasty Profile

Anthony Miller was unstoppable at the University of Memphis. Breaking out in his sophomore year, he amassed over 3,500 years in three seasons. His best coming in his junior year where he had an absurd 96 catches, 1,462 yards, and 18 touchdowns. Miller was good enough to be drafted in the 2nd round by the Chicago Bears in the 2018 draft. Pegged as a guy who could be a massive star, Miller has been a little bit forgotten in the Bears offense since his arrival. In his rookie season, Miller grabbed 33 receptions for 423 yards and an impressive 7 touchdowns. As a result, he was a popular 2nd-year breakout candidate but he actually wound up finishing about the same for fantasy purposes in his second year.

Terry McLaurin Dynasty

Terry McLaurin: 2020 Dynasty Profile

It only took one game for Washington to know they made the right decision drafting Terry McLaurin 76th overall in 2019. He burst onto the scene to the tune of five catches for 125 yards and one touchdown. There were the usual ups and downs of a rookie season, but out of 14 games played, McLaurin finished with eight double-digit fantasy games landing at WR24 in standard and WR29 in PPR.

D.J. Moore: 2020 Dynasty Profile

Back in 2018, DJ Moore entered the NFL as a top wide receiver (WR) prospect. Posting impressive age-adjusted production at Maryland. He led the Terrapins passing attack during his breakout sophomore season at the age of 19. By the end of his career, Moore easily exceeded important production thresholds like career average scrimmage yards per play, receiving yards market share, and receiving yards per team pass attempt. D.J. Moore’s outstanding age-adjusted college production combined with elite athleticism, prototypical NFL size, and first-round draft capital made him an exciting WR prospect.

Austin Ekeler: 2020 Dynasty Profile

Austin Ekeler: Los Angeles Charger and defier of the odds. The UDFA out of Western State blew the top off every fantasy analyst’s big board last year by finishing as the RB4. Oh, and he shared the load with Melvin Gordon from weeks 5 onward. He was electrifying every step of the way finishing second among running backs in both catches and receiving yards, plus finishing number one in yards per touch. Ekeler makes his living in PPR leagues due to his ability in the passing game, both as a reliable check-down and a threat out of the backfield where he played 30% of his snaps. How good is he as a receiver? Since 2017, Ekeler is the number one receiving back in the NFL ranked by PFF at 94.2. Numbers two and three on that list? Christian McCaffrey and Alvin Kamara. Enough said.

Karp’s Favorite Fantasy Format

No matter the format, the most important thing is that you and your league mates enjoy playing together. Play the types of leagues you like, and feel free to try new leagues. However, it’s also okay if you don’t want to play a specific format, like how I feel about IDP leagues. Just be a good person and an active owner, and you’ll enjoy your time in this world.

High Upside Dart Throw: Van Jefferson

Van Jefferson is not on anyone’s fantasy radar coming into drafts this season. Quietly selected in the second round of the 2020 draft, Jefferson walks into his rookie season with one of the best offensive schemes in the NFL. Other highly drafted prospects like Jerry Jeudy, CeeDee Lamb, and Michael Pittman are getting the majority of the attention from the fantasy community. However, I believe Van Jefferson may be the most underrated and unheralded rookie of the 2020 class, and someone that could bring you sneaky value this upcoming fantasy season.

Deep IDP Fantasy Buys

am going to give you some deep, buy low IDP options for the upcoming fantasy season. These are players that are not on the radar of most IDP fantasy owners in deep dynasty leagues but should be. The players on this list, are young guys on the rise, they may get their chance to make an impact for their teams or they may be rookies with no real competition ahead of them on the depth chart. Let’s take a look at these players and what they could help for your fantasy team.

CB, Isaac Yiadom, Denver Broncos The second-year corner out of Boston College, was a low-risk rookie buy last season but wasn’t owned in many leagues (less than 5%). As a rookie he played in thirteen games, starting one, he played a total of 439 total snaps. He played 263 defensive snaps, which was 24.3% of the Broncos defensive total. He also played 176 special teams snaps, that accounted for 49.1%. As you can see, he was a core special teams piece in his first year….
