Jameson Williams: Ligaments, Lions, and Long Term Value (Oh My!)

Athletes, however, will often take an additional year after their return before they begin to exhibit production close to their previous level of performance. Saquon Barkley is a recent example of this drastic improvement in the second season post-surgery.

Injuries Growing on Trees: Robert Woods Rapid Reaction

You were already disappointed during the early part of the season if you went with a Zero-WR approach and expected WR1 numbers from Robert Woods but he quietly crept up as the WR12 after Week 9 just past the halfway point of the season. Now, some people want to claw their eyes out if they weren’t one of the few to sell early (It’s me. I’m some people) and are scrambling to recover for the playoff push. Luckily WR is a deep position and there are waiver and trade options to plugin.

Rapid Reaction: Jameis Winston Injury

There is a heightened level of emotional attachment that fans and players put into divisional rivalries. The familiarity of foe creates a palatable tension in an already brutal sport. You can feel the electricity in the air every time the Buccaneers enter the Superdome to face the Saints and vice versa. This Sunday was no different.

J.K. Dobbins Injury Rapid Reaction

We were so close to the regular season. So close. Most starters sat on the bench during week three of the preseason as it was treated much like preseason week four in past years, but for one team that chose to play their starters, the consequence was dire. Baltimore Ravens second-year running back J.K. Dobbins has suffered a torn ACL and will miss the 2021 season according to Adam Schefter.

A Saquon Barkley Update: The AP Effect

Saquon Barkley (RB-NYG), as we all know, tore his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and meniscus in his right knee in Week 2 (September 20th) of the 2020 NFL season. It was a devastating injury for the consensus top-five fantasy player,  an injury that would land him on the IR for the remainder of the season. However, most assumed that he would be back to 100% by the start of the 2021 season and this assumption was reflected in his fourth overall fantasy ranking in half-point PPR. An assumption, that I like to call the Adrian Peterson effect or “The AP Effect” for short.

Saquon Barkley: Season-Ending ACL Injury Impact

Losing Barkley leaves the Giants with Dion Lewis, Wayne Gallman, and Elijah Penny in their running back room. They do not have a running back on their 10-man practice squad so as expected they filled the roster spot with the veteran back Devonta Freeman. As a reminder, the Giants’ starting left tackle Nate Solder had opt-ed out of the 2020 season, leaving their offensive line lacking starting-caliber players across the board. Because of this, Giants’ running backs are averaging only 1.8 yards per attempt on the season. As a team, the Giants are averaging just over 50 yards rushing per game.
