Dynasty Player Profile: Ryan Flournoy

Ryan Flournoy | SE Missouri St.       6’1″ 202 Lbs           10/27/99 (24)

Ryan Flournoy was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys, becoming the 31st wide receiver and 216th overall player in the 2024 NFL Draft.

COLLEGE PRODUCTION

Ryan Flournoy was productive in his two seasons at SE Missouri St, hauling in 118 catches for 1,823 yards and 13 TDs after spending time at Central Missouri St. and Iowa Western. He was a consistent part of the game plan in his final year, bringing in at least three catches in all nine games he played in, going over the 90-yard mark five times while catching a TD in six games. In their lone matchup against a ranked team, he had ten catches for 96 yards against No. 16 ranked Kansas State.

FILM

Flournoy’s film didn’t match up with what I was expecting to see after looking at his raw box score stats. He averaged almost 15 yards per catch in his final season, so I was expecting to see him consistently hauling in contested catches down the sideline. While there were a few of those highlight plays mixed in, the majority of his routes were short 5-yard ins-and-outs that he turned into 15-yard gains after the catch. When they did give him a chance to go up and win down the field, he routinely played through contact and came down with the pass, so there could be some untapped potential here if he’s asked to stretch the field a little more often at the next level. He looked dominant against smaller school competition, but overall he was raw in a lot of areas and struggled to separate against press-man coverage in their games against ranked teams.

ATHLETIC TESTING

At the combine, Ryan Flournoy measured in at 6’2” and 202 lbs. He didn’t blow up in any particular drill at the combine, but put up solid numbers across the board in the drills he took part in. He got up 19 reps on the bench press, leaped 39.5” inches in the vertical jump and ran a 4.44 40-yard dash.

DRAFT ANALYSIS

Rapid Reaction to Draft Capital: Poor

Rapid Reaction to Landing Spot: Above Average

Ryan Flournoy was selected with the 216th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys.

FANTASY INSIGHTS

I have Ryan Flournoy ranked as the number 26th wide receiver in this class and think he will have an uphill battle to carve out fantasy relevance. The one thing going in his direction is a lack of major competition for reps behind CeeDee Lamb and Brandin Cooks, as Jalen Tolbert is the only other WR on the roster who is expected to contribute consistently in 2024.

His best-case scenario is carving out a role as a rotation receiver who is used in jump ball situations and manufactured touches like screens around the line of scrimmage.

Flournoy will likely go undrafted in most 12-team dynasty rookie drafts, but he is worth a Taxi Squad stash if you have room for him.
