We’re officially just two weeks away from one of the best times of the year; fantasy football playoffs. By this time of the year, the waivers are looking as dry as ever. This means it is time for us to get a little sneakier and find some deep depth to stock the end of our benches with. We, as you know, are always on the hunt for running backs with a path to opportunity. But this week there’s not any to be found sitting on waivers, meaning it’s time to pivot; pivot from running backs to some sneaky late-week receivers.
Josh Reynolds (WR – DET)
Reynolds started the year in Tennessee, but after being cut joined a group of not-so-great receivers in Detroit. Reynolds is not some world-beater, but he is somehow the cheapest of the Lions’ passing options and had the best week of all of them in just his second game with the Lions. He posted a 20% target share and 2.80 yards per team pass attempt. Which is a serviceable opportunity that could come in handy at the end of your bench.
Laquon Treadwell (WR – JAC)
What year is it? Dan Arnold suffered a possible season-ending injury last week for Jacksonville which led to a Laquon Treadwell near 20% target share in week twelve. With the lack of receiving options, especially after Agnew’s and Arnold’s serious injuries, Treadwell is someone who has the possibility of providing low-end production to finish the year out. An improving Trevor Lawrence doesn’t hurt to be attached to either.
These are most definitely not the sexiest names, but when waiver wires are just players with no floor, we try to find those that have the possibility of ceiling weeks. Any advantage you can get goes a long way.
