Dynasty Player Profile: Michael Pratt

Michael Pratt | Tulane                  6’2 217 lbs.                 September 30, 2001 (23)

Michael Pratt was drafted by the Green Bay Packers, becoming the 11th quarterback and 245th overall player in the 2024 NFL Draft.

COLLEGE PRODUCTION

Michael Pratt was a four-year starter at Tulane. He went over 3,000 yards passing just once, in his 3rd season, and also only threw more than 22 touchdowns just once (27 in his junior year). Pratt never threw double-digit interceptions in any one season but also had at least 5 in each year.

Pratt was sneakily productive on the ground, with almost 30 career rushing touchdowns and right around 1,000 career rushing yards over his 4 seasons. This isn’t anything super crazy, but it’s nice that it’s not a total zero in his profile, and the touchdowns are honestly pretty solid.

FILM

Pratt’s film is actually pretty fun to watch. He’s a solid pocket passer and can get really hot when he’s in rhythm. His timing and anticipation are excellent at moments especially when the pocket is clean. He does still deal with pressure well, but can sometimes get thrown off and loses accuracy when he’s unable to wind up and set his mechanics, unlike some of the higher-level arm talents in this class. Pratt does move okay in the pocket, but it’s not exactly a huge strength for him.

Pratt unfortunately lacks a high-level NFL arm. He’s able to attack downfield to a serviceable degree but his ability to execute tight-window throws downfield is limited. He also lacks any kind of elite athleticism as a runner or even in the pocket. Overall, I don’t see a ton of upside to Pratt’s game, but he is coming in as a fairly well-rounded, smart, and refined football player who should be able to carve out a role as a backup with ease.

ATHLETIC TESTING

At the combine, Michael Pratt measured 6’2½ ” and 217 lbs, which is a pretty solid average build for a pocket quarterback.

He did not participate in the 40-yard dash. His three-cone time was poor at 7.2. Pratt had a good performance in the vertical jump with 36 inches. This led to an overall relative size-adjusted athletic score of 8.22 out of 10 which is above average for the top prospects in this draft class.

DRAFT ANALYSIS

Rapid Reaction to Draft Capital: Poor

Rapid Reaction to Landing Spot: Average

Michael Pratt was selected with the 245th-overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft by the Green Bay Packers.

This is pretty damning draft capital and close to guarantees that Pratt will not be a starter on his rookie deal. It’s unlikely he’s handed a starting opportunity after that as well and will need injuries to his starting quarterbacks to ever see fantasy points.

Pratt will serve as Jordan Love’s backup in Green Bay. This honestly isn’t the worst place to be backing someone up, but I do think a huge part of Love’s dominance is his rapport with Matt LaFleur and his young receiving core, which Pratt obviously will have to build up in case he’s ever needed in an emergency.

FANTASY INSIGHTS

I have Michael Pratt ranked as the number 10 quarterback in this class for projected future dynasty value. I don’t see him ever seeing any of my fantasy lineups barring injury to Jordan Love or whoever he ends up backing up, and wouldn’t really consider drafting him until the later rounds of rookie drafts.

Michael Pratt should probably go undrafted in rookie drafts but is worth a shot if your draft goes into the 5th-6th rounds (assuming 12-team league).
