LaNorris Sellers Devy Deep Dive

LaNorris Sellers (QB – South Carolina)        6’3” 240 lbs.       2026 NFL Draft Eligible

With the vast majority of dynasty rookie drafts complete, it’s time we begin diving deeper into the 2026 class. The class as a whole is comprised largely of mystery-box quarterbacks that are very intriguing on the surface. Because of this, I felt that the most logical place to start our deep dive is at this position. First up, we have third-year South Carolina quarterback, LaNorris Sellers. Let’s dig in.

High School

Sellers attended South Florence High School in Florence, South Carolina. His best high school season was his final year, when he passed for 2,948 yards and 45 touchdowns and rushed for 1,338 yards and 17 touchdowns. He led his team to the 4A State Championship and capped the season off with a 57-30 win.

Sellers originally committed to the University of Virginia and then Syracuse before finally signing with the South Carolina Gamecocks, where he has spent the first two seasons of his college career.

South Carolina (2023-2024)

Sellers didn’t get the starting nod until his second season at South Carolina, as he spent his first year learning behind Spencer Rattler. In his first season as a starter, he showed why he is considered one of the premier dual-threat quarterbacks in college football. He started the season slowly, which was to be expected from a first-time starting quarterback. Still, he showed flashes throughout the final six games of the season that have many in the scouting community salivating for what is to come in 2025. Two of the more notable performances included 353 passing yards and 5 touchdowns against 23rd-ranked Missouri and 166 rush yards with 2 rushing touchdowns against in-state rival and 12th-ranked Clemson. With few highly talented players at the surrounding skill positions, Sellers was still able to elevate his team to a 9-3 season.

G Cmp/Att Pass Yards Pass TD INT Rush Yards Rush TD
2023 3 4/4 86 2 0 51 1
2024 12 196/299 2,534 18 7 674 7
Total 15 200/303 2,620 20 7 725 8

Analytics

Let’s take a look at how LaNorris Sellers has performed from an analytics standpoint year over year.

QBR EPA ADJ YPA PASS EPA/Play
2023 n/a 15 31.5 2.68
2024 70.3 143 8.57 0.34

Though analytics aren’t as easily digested for college quarterbacks as they are in the NFL, two of the more important metrics in my eyes are EPA and adjusted YPA.

EPA is a statistic that measures how much a play adds to a team’s expected points. It takes into account the down and distance, field position, and the team’s average performance. A positive EPA indicates the play helped the team score more points than expected, while a negative EPA means the play hurt the team’s chances of scoring.

So, what does a good EPA/play look like? Generally, I look for this metric to be anywhere above 0.25, which indicates that a quarterback is making good decisions on a routine basis to help his team down the field. Sellers easily checked this box in 2024, and I expect him to improve on the number in the coming season.

As for YPA, this is a metric that helps to determine if a quarterback is capable of making accurate, downfield throws. The cut-off to indicate a quarterback’s NFL potential is presumed to be around 7.3. Again, Sellers checks this box despite having minimal downfield weapons at his disposal.

Film

Sellers is a physical freak in the mold of Cam Newton and Josh Allen. By no means am I guaranteeing that he will ascend to reach the fantasy status that either of them did, but he is a big-bodied quarterback who possesses rare pocket maneuverability and is seemingly impossible to bring down. He has an excellent feel for pressure coming off the edge and can quickly decide to step up in the pocket or roll to the outside.

From a pure throwing perspective, Sellers’ arm is very strong. He can fit the ball into most windows but seems not to trust his eyes at times when it comes to squeezing balls into tighter spots. Aside from his maneuverability, one of the more impressive things about Sellers is his ability to read the field. He rarely stares down his first read and does an excellent job using his eyes to look off defenders in the secondary. He does need to work on his ability to make quick decisions, but this should come with more time under center.

Dynasty/Devy Value

Sellers is currently my third overall quarterback prospect and highest ranked quarterback in the 2026 class. He will have the opportunity to flash his dual-threat ability throughout the upcoming season. I expect him to surpass both his passing and rushing numbers from last year and lock himself in as a top 5 pick in the NFL draft.

I would like to see more refinement in his arm this season, along with improvements in his field scanning, but the overall athleticism and physical tools have the makings of a fantasy stud at the next level should he put it all together. Expect Sellers to be the top quarterback in 2026 rookie drafts (assuming Arch Manning stays in school) and the early favorite to be the 1.01 in Superflex.
