Eric Singleton Jr. – Devy Profile

Eric Singleton Jr. | WR | Georgia Tech | 2026 Draft Eligible

In Devy drafts, finding that college player right before a breakout season is the cheapest way to add value to your Dynasty roster. Acquiring an undervalued prospect could set you up for years of stability and success if they “hit” at the NFL level. One of my goals when researching and writing Devy articles is to help you find those pieces to invest in before the price rises. Based on the freshman numbers he just put up, Eric Singleton may be one of those guys. Let’s learn a little more about this young man’s game.ย

High School

Singleton graduated from Alexander High School in Douglasville, GA. As a senior, Singleton finished with 65 receptions for 1,115 yards and 15 touchdowns in ten games. He’s the only player in Alexander High School history to have surpassed the 1k receiving yard mark in a single season. Singleton was a 3-star prospect on 247 Sports, receiving offers from major programs such as Auburn, Utah, Texas A&M, and West Virginia. Singleton initially committed to Western Kentucky, but decommitted to sign with HC Brent Key and the Yellow Jackets.

Eric was also a track star in high school, qualifying for state as a junior in the 100-meter and 400-meter dash. His best time in the 100-yard dash was 10.68 seconds. Singleton has continued his track career at Georgia Tech as well, specializing in the 60-meter hurdles. His elite speed has made him a deadly deep threat on the football field, which we’ll discuss shortly.ย

Georgia Tech

As a true freshman, Eric Singleton established himself as the WR1 in this Yellow Jackets offense. Through twelve games, Singleton accumulated 48 receptions for 714 yards and six touchdowns. He was QB Haynes King’s go-to target, leading the team in all three of these receiving categories. Singleton’s production earned him freshman All-American honors from On3, The Athletic, and 247 Sports.ย

Singleton was also efficient from a per-route perspective, especially considering he was a true freshman playing in the Power 5. Eric finished with 28.6% targets per route run (TPRR) and 2.46 yards per route run (YPRR), both near the very top of his draft class. Singleton’s contested-target rate of 14.29% suggests he has the speed and route-running skills to create separation from his defenders consistently, and his aDOT of 14.9 confirms Brent Key loved using this guy vertically in the passing game.ย

Singleton finished with four total drops on the season for a drop rate of 7.69%. This is a decent mark, especially considering how he was utilized as a pass-catcher. His contested-catch percentage of just 25% (3/12) highlights what I saw when watching film; Singleton simply isn’t a physically imposing player yet.ย

Strengths and Weaknesses

Let’s start with the bad and finish with the good. At 5’11” and 173 pounds, Singleton struggled to fight through contact at times. He’ll need to put on some lean mass if he hopes to make a big jump in his sophomore season and begin earning some NFL interest. However, I’m not sure adding weight is in his best interest for his track career. Eric’s YAC ability in the short and intermediate areas of the field leaves quite a bit to be desired. While the kid is incredibly quick, he’s not very elusive in the open field and doesn’t have the playing strength to fight through tacklers. Luckily, he has 2 to 3 more seasons to grow and mature before we see him on Sundays, so it’s nothing to be overly concerned with right now.ย

Now, to the good. As I’ve mentioned, Singleton is one of the fastest guys in college football today. His ability to create separation deep down the field is apparent and led to a number of easy passes for Haynes King. He hit 21.7 mph in Week 10 against Virginia, which was one of the 25 fastest-recorded times for the 2023 college football season. Singleton ran several successful end-around plays as well, putting his versatility on display. Eric has shown he can consistently get himself open in all areas of the football field, and he’ll be running it back with his quarterback again in 2024. These guys already have a ton of rapport with one another, and I expect we’ll see a target share of 30% or more from Singleton as a true sophomore.ย

Dynasty/Devy Value

It’s tough to tell exactly where we should value Eric Singleton compared to guys like Zachariah Branch, Johntay Cook, and Carnell Tate. All three of these freshmen produced less than Singleton in 2023, but at the same time, they profile to be superior NFL talents, and they had to deal with a much tougher depth chart on their respective teams. Players like Singleton and Kevin Concepcion (NC State) posted some incredible numbers in Year 1, but we need to discount their production a bit based on the lack of target competition.ย

Being a two-sport athlete at Georgia Tech, we know Singleton has some elite athleticism. He’s a quick twitch player with breakaway speed and impressive jumping ability. If he continues to get stronger and improves after the catch, Singleton may turn into one of the top WRs in this 2026 draft class. He has a long way to go, but I think this young man is certainly worth a draft selection in the later rounds of your Devy drafts. We don’t often see this level of production right out the gate from a Power 5 receiver.ย
