These player assets are similar to investing in new companies that are just hitting the market. You can make a small investment in a player and see massive gains by the time they enter the NFL. Welcome to the Thunderdome my #DFFArmy, the name’s Heady and college football signing day is FINALLY complete. Now that all of those four and five-star players have delivered their letter of intent to the college of their choice, it is time to dive into where the gunslingers of this class rank with regards to Devy leagues. National Championship Game Review: A Devy Newbie’s Perspective

As most of you know, I’m not a devy writer. In fact, I don’t think I’ve ever written a devy article for DFF, mostly focusing on dynasty and redraft. I’ve published 377 articles without writing a single devy article thus far. However, that’s all about to change. Like most football fans, I tuned into the National Championship game, where Alabama defeated Ohio State 52-24. I noticed that Alabama was the far superior team, although even I knew that much from my cursory knowledge of college football. This game was the first college game I watched from start to finish all season, so I’m genuinely a new viewer. Even though I wanted to watch the game just for fun, I also got into some of the draft prospects. I know that Alabama and Ohio State are both loaded with incoming NFL talent, especially Alabama. Let’s jump into some of what I saw from a newbie’s perspective.

Somehow, college football season is close to complete. This will be the last installment of this weekly article for the season. The twists and turns of a tumultuous 2020 season will go down in college football lore. The strangest college football season in history is coming to a close as most teams’ seasons have now ended. Championship week crowned nine league champions, and four programs—Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State, and Notre Dame—earned selections to the 2020 college football playoff. San Jose State and Cincinnati each followed through and completed their dream seasons, defeating Boise State and Tulsa in the Mountain West and American Athletic Conference championships respectively. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to see Coastal Carolina and Louisiana cap off what has been a phenomenal Sun Belt season, after their title game was canceled, and they were declared co-champions. Let’s unpack the player draft stock movement from the past week of action!

Now in the books, Week 15 of the 2020 college football season saw #6 Florida, #10 Miami, and #21 Colorado exposed. The rest of the weekend slate went about as pundits expected. #13 Coastal Carolina escaped a let-down game with a narrow last-minute victory over Troy, and San Jose State knocked off Mountain West power Nevada to clinch a spot in their conference championship. Coastal Carolina and San Jose State both see their storybook seasons live on. Offensive fireworks and last-second opt-outs led us to witness draft stock movement this week as well, so let’s discuss!

The college football regular season concluded this weekend, and we now head into conference championship week. As we await the bowl game invitations we can look back on a great season. The incredibly high number of opt-outs this year opened the door for many underclassmen to have opportunities at Power Five programs that they otherwise would not have. There are some storylines that transcend the sporting event; Michael Jordan hitting ‘the shot’, Mike Tyson biting off Evander Holyfield’s ear, and the base hit that rolled right through Bill Buckner’s legs. The game of the weekend will likely be remembered as the shoe toss, but I will remember it as the day that a young LSU wide receiver arrived.

Now that Week 14 of the college football season has come and gone, we have a lot to examine. We saw a few teams fall from the ranks of the undefeated, one of which (#21 Marshall) was shut out. The top four teams in the nation flexed their muscles again, winning in dominant fashion. A couple of Heisman hopefuls made convincing cases to stay in the rankings, as we saw one unexpectedly stumble. The emergency scheduling of the “Mormons vs. Mullets” matchup played out as the game of the season. We now take a few minutes to look at some future fantasy players and how their draft stocks were affected!

Zachary Evans has been one of the top players in the 2020 recruiting class, but after a lengthy recruitment that finally landed him at TCU, he has emerged as the Horned Frogs’ featured back. Evans stands at 5’11” and 195 lbs. has a body nearly ready for NFL action, and his skill set is emerging as one of the most difficult matchups in the nation. Evans was a five-star prospect across all ranking platforms. Along with having the prototypical running back body type, Evans is a consummate athlete who ran a 4.51-second 40-yard dash in high school and conveyed his elusiveness with a positional best 3.91-second shuttle time. Evans was the top recruit that the Horned Frogs have ever received according to 247 Sports, including Eagles phenom receiver Jalen Reagor, and is the best running back for TCU since LaDainian Tomlinson (online platforms were not ranking high school prospects back in Tomlinson’s day).

Draft Stock Watch: Week 12

The Week 12 slate of games saw a pair of ranked teams fall and a handful of the top teams in the nation get taken down to the wire, only to prevail late in the game. #10 Wisconsin lost a defensive battle against conference foe #19 Northwestern and #21 Liberty saw their game-winning field goal attempt blocked in an upset loss to unranked North Carolina State. On the draft front, many prospects had stand-out games and improved their stocks. While it was difficult to select just a couple of performances to feature, we’ll now review which players increased or decreased their ranks!

Draft Stock Watch: Week 11

There were not many surprises in the Week 11 slate games this weekend, as the only ranked team to fall was #17 SMU in a close loss to Tulsa in which they led most of the game. Observing the shift in power among the BIG10 and SEC football conferences have proven interesting to watch this season. This past weekend, from an individual performance standpoint, there were a lot of future NFL stars to post strong stat lines, making this weeks’ featured risers a difficult decision.
