Bo Nix | Oregon 6’2”, 214 lbs Feb 25th, 2000 (24)
Bo Nix was drafted by the Denver Broncos, becoming the sixth quarterback and 12th overall player in the 2024 NFL Draft.
COLLEGE PRODUCTION
Bo Nix had a rollercoaster of a college career, beginning all the way back in 2019. Many had high hopes for Nix after a promising rookie campaign, but he never managed to meet those lofty expectations during his time at Auburn. Most devy heads were out on Nix by the time his junior season concluded, but the man revitalized his career after transferring to Oregon. Bo Nix accumulated nearly 9,000 yards of offense and 94 touchdowns in his two seasons at Eugene, finishing third in the Heisman race in 2023.
FILM
Many of Nix’s biggest weaknesses early in his college career turned into strengths once he got to Oregon. While at Auburn, Nix struggled mightily with his accuracy and would make poor decisions while under pressure. But he turned into one of the most accurate passers in the country in his fourth and fifth seasons and displayed some excellent composure when the pocket collapsed around him. Question marks arise when we consider the surrounding cast Nix got to play alongside. He had two elite receivers in Troy Franklin and Tez Johnson, not to mention one of the best pass-catching RBs in the nation in Bucky Irving. Nix was able to get the ball out quickly, often on his first read, without much issue. This Oregon roster certainly helped raise his level of play.
ATHLETIC TESTING
At the Combine, Bo Nix measured 6’2” and 214 lbs. He did not complete athletic testing at the Combine but did take part in the throwing drills. NFL Draft Buzz has Nix’s estimated 40-yard dash time at 4.75 seconds. He is technically a pocket quarterback, but clearly has the mobility and athleticism to score fantasy points on the ground, given he ran for 510 yards and 14 touchdowns in 2022.
DRAFT ANALYSIS
Rapid Reaction to Draft Capital: Excellent
Rapid Reaction to Landing Spot: Excellent
Bo Nix was selected with the 12th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft by the Denver Broncos. He should be in line to start immediately, making him a clear first-round pick in Dynasty rookie drafts.
FANTASY INSIGHTS
I have Bo Nix ranked as the number five quarterback in this class for projected future dynasty value. He has the potential to become a quality NFL starter, and his rushing upside makes him an intriguing option in rookie drafts. I see Nix’s ceiling as becoming a high-end QB2 in Dynasty. I do have some concerns about the fact that Nix wasn’t able to break out until Year 4 and did so against Pac-12 defenses.
Bo Nix should be taken off the board in rookie drafts around pick 1.09. He is now a clear first-round pick in Superflex formats.
