Adams, Kupp, or Diggs? Dynasty Veteran Targets

As we look ahead to the 2025 NFL season, three veteran wide receivers and former dynasty superstars find themselves in new situations: Davante Adams, Cooper Kupp, and Stefon Diggs. While all three of these players are well into their 30s, they may still have something left in the tank, making them potential “buy” targets for our contending dynasty rosters. But which player should we target first? I’m going to help answer that question and rank these guys in order from a dynasty perspective. Let’s break this down.

Contract Details

Davante Adams: 2-year, $44M, $26M guaranteed

Cooper Kupp: 3-year, $45M, $17.5M guaranteed

Stefon Diggs: 3-year, $63.5M, $16.6M guaranteed

Adams, Kupp, and Diggs all inked multi-year deals with their new teams, but all three contracts have outs after the 2025 season. Because of this and the age concerns, we should really only be projecting one year of production when we’re valuing these players from a dynasty lens. The market is in agreement with this, as all three guys are ranked outside the top 40 WRs in dynasty on KeepTradeCut.

Team Outlook

The dynasty community seemed to be most bullish on the Davante Adams landing spot, heading to LA to play with QB Matthew Stafford. Much of the excitement stemmed from the assumption that Aaron Rodgers is washed up, and while he may be, Adams was still Rodgers’ clear go-to target. After getting traded to the Jets midseason, Adams averaged over 10 targets per game through 11 games with Rodgers under center. Heading to the Rams, Puka will almost certainly be Stafford’s WR1 in 2025. But Adams will be in a more competent offense, so I’d say the move is a wash.

Kupp signing with Seattle was unexpected, given they already have their slot receiver, and he’s one of the best young prospects in the league. I guess the plan will be to run JSN out of the slot, have Kupp play the Z, and Marquez Valdes-Scantling be the X. There’s also a good chance Seattle grabs a Day 1 or Day 2 wide receiver to help fill out the room for their new quarterback, Sam Darnold. With Kupp possibly booted from the slot position, I don’t love this move for him, but I don’t think it hurts his dynasty stock much.

Stefon Diggs signed with the New England Patriots, finally giving Drake Maye a legitimate NFL wide receiver to work with. Diggs is still recovering from a torn ACL he suffered back in Week 8, so it’s unclear whether he’ll be ready for the start of the 2025 season. When he does return, though, he projects to be the WR1 for the Patriots unless they go with Travis Hunter in the first round. Would we rather have Diggs as the WR1 for New England or the WR2 for Houston? Probably the latter, but if Diggs was going anywhere, I like this spot for fantasy.

2025 Projections

As I mentioned earlier, we should treat these three guys as one-year rentals in dynasty. If you’re trading for a 31 or 32-year-old wide receiver expecting production in 2026 or 2027, you’re setting yourself up to get burned. Since we’re looking at this purely from the lens of a 2025 contender, a good spot to look for projected production and ceiling is Underdog Best Ball ADP. I’ve covered this in my Using Redraft to Improve Your Dynasty Team series; Underdog ADP is arguably the sharpest redraft ADP you can find, as all their drafts require putting real money on the line. It’s a great place to look for current-season production.

Current ADP has Davante Adams as the WR21, Cooper Kupp as the WR47, and Stefon Diggs as the WR55. Diggs’ ADP is clearly baking in the concerns that he misses time early and the chance that he returns a shell of himself post-ACL injury.

My Dynasty Ranks

In my current dynasty ranks (which include 2025 rookies), I have Davante Adams as my WR45, Stefon Diggs as my WR49, and Cooper Kupp as my WR50. I think Adams is the clear top fantasy player of the three, as he’s shown very little signs of slowing down. As such, I expect he is also the most expensive to acquire by a decent margin.

Diggs and Kupp I have back-to-back, but I’ll give the edge to Diggs based on the fact that he has the chance to be the WR1 for his own team, as well as my concerns that Kupp may just flat out be done in terms of fantasy production. Kupp ranked 102nd out of 116 receivers in ESPN’s open score in 2024. He simply doesn’t have the short-area quickness or agility to get open consistently anymore. My concern is that Seattle will grab a wide receiver early in the draft, pushing Kupp down to the third option for Seattle, making him a risky flex play at best.

I would target Davante Adams first on your contending teams, but if the price isn’t palatable (I’d say anything more than an early-second-round rookie pick in value), I’d aim to target Stefon Diggs.
