Audric Estime was drafted 147th overall by the Denver Broncos, becoming the 12th running back and 147th overall player in the 2024 NFL Draft.

After seeing minimal opportunities as a true freshman in 2021, Estime turned some heads during his sophomore season. He turned 156 carries into 920 yards and 11 touchdowns, leading the Fighting Irish rushing attack. Estime then put together one of the best rushing performances in Notre Dame history as a Junior, accumulating 1,341 yards and 18 touchdowns on 210 carries. His 1,341 rushing yards were the 12th most in the nation, and fifth most in Irish history. His stellar 2023 season performance earned him All-American Second Team honors.

STRENGTHS
Estime is a bruiser, breaking tackles left and right. Most of the time, it took multiple defenders to drag him down. He’s also moving his legs and drives forward through nearly every run. Once he gets going, he showcases decent speed through the gaps, and he has a knack for finding inside lanes as he drops his pads and finishes his runs through contact. He has agile feet and can make sudden, reactive cuts to elude defenders inside or outside.
WEAKNESSES
Doesn’t possess elite breakaway speed. Takes plays off in pass protection, and doesn’t process the right read on which defender to block in defensive blitz packages. Average burst but can tend to be sluggish to sink his hips and cut as a pass-catcher out of the backfield. Also hasn’t shown a lot of promise as a receiver.
ATHLETIC TESTING
At the NFL combine, Estime measured in at 5’11” and 221 lbs, which equates to a BMI of 30.8. He ran a disappointing 4.71 40-yard dash (17th percentile), equating to an 89.8-speed score (28th percentile). Estime also displayed a 127.1 burst score (87th percentile) and a college dominator score of 17 percent.
Estime shows superb strength, as his 23 reps on the bench press at the NFL Combine were the fourth-most among all running backs. He showcased solid leaping abilities with a 38” vertical and a 127” broad jump. His biggest red flag would be his speed, as he finished last in the 40-yard dash amongst the 21 participants at his position.

Denver brings another offensive weapon in Estime to go along with Bo Nix and Troy Franklin as incoming skilled position player rookies. He will compete with Semaje Perine and Jaleel McLaughlin for the RB2 role behind Javonte Williams.
FANTASY INSIGHTS
I had a fifth-round grade on Estime, and he was my 10th-ranked running back in this draft class. He has a great opportunity to climb the depth chart in Denver, as McLaughlin and Perine aren’t guaranteed large roles in Sean Payton’s offense. Also, don’t be surprised if Estime carves out a short-yardage/goal-line back role for this team right away as a rookie.
In your rookie drafts, Estime should be drafted in the third round at the earliest. He won’t have an opportunity to become a starter in the league any time soon, and he lacks a lot of measurables you want from a rookie dynasty back.
