MarShawn Lloyd | USC 5’9” 220 lbs. 01/05/2001 (Age 23)
MarShawn Lloyd was drafted 88th overall by the Green Bay Packers, becoming the 4th running back and 88th overall player in the 2024 NFL Draft.
COLLEGE PRODUCTION
Year | Games Played | Attempts | Yards | Yards/Attempt | TDs |
2021 (FR) | 12 | 64 | 228 | 3.6 | 1 |
2022 (SO) | 9 | 111 | 573 | 5.2 | 9 |
2023 (JR) | 11 | 116 | 820 | 7.1 | 9 |
Although Lloyd failed to top 1,000 rushing yards in each of his three collegiate seasons, he was very productive both as a rusher and receiver out of the backfield during his collegiate career. He spent his first two active seasons with South Carolina, splitting carries with Jaheim Bell (who played tight end for Florida State in 2023). But he turned a lot of heads during his lone season with USC this past year. He finished with an astounding 7.1 yards per carry, as he turned 116 attempts into 820 yards and nine touchdowns. On top of that, he hauled in 13 receptions for 232 yards. In a loaded Pac-12 conference, Lloyd finished fifth in the conference in yards per game, averaging 74.5.

STRENGTHS
Makes something out of nothing and is a big-play threat on the ground whenever he touches the ball. Awkward runner, but often outruns secondary defenders in open space. Shows patience and attacks open lanes with sudden speed. Physical runner and makes a lot of defenders miss. Shows off great hands. Although he didn’t catch a ton of passes, he often finds open space in scramble modes for his quarterback as a receiver out of the backfield.
WEAKNESSES
Average vision. Needs to be more instinctive in his rushes. Below-average ball security, and he needs to improve on this at the pro level (at least three fumbles in each of his three seasons in college). Below-average pass-blocker. Durability can be an issue, as he missed time in 2022 and 2023. He also missed the entire 2020 season due to a torn ACL.
ATHLETIC TESTING
At the NFL combine, Lloyd measured in at 5’9” and 220 lbs, which equates to a BMI of 32.5. He ran a solid 4.46 40-yard dash (87th percentile), equating to a 111.2-speed score (93rd percentile). Lloyd also displayed a 120.2 burst score (60th percentile) and a college dominator score of 16.2 percent (22nd percentile).
Lloyd shows exceptional strength, as his 25 reps on the bench press at the NFL Combine were the second-most among all running backs (behind only Blake Corum’s 27). He showed off his above-average speed, finishing sixth out of 21 participants in his position. Lloyd also showcased decent leaping abilities with a 36” vertical and a 118” broad jump. His biggest red flag was discovered in his 10-yard split, as his 1.56-second split ranked 15th out of the group of 21. This below-average time indicates that he needs to work on improving his agility skills.
DRAFT ANALYSIS
Rapid Reaction to Draft Capital: Average
Rapid Reaction to Landing Spot: Average
Lloyd was selected with the 88th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft by the Green Bay Packers.
Green Bay elected to bring in Josh Jacobs and move on from Aaron Jones earlier this offseason. Lloyd will battle A.J. Dillon as Jacobs’ backup, although Lloyd has a wider skillset than Dillon does. Don’t be surprised if Lloyd carves out a minimum role as the team’s RB2 during his rookie season.
FANTASY INSIGHTS
Lloyd received a fourth-round grade from me before the draft, and I had him as my sixth-ranked running back behind Jonathan Brooks, Trey Benson, Braelon Allen, Jaylen Wright, and Blake Corum.
In your rookie drafts, Lloyd should find his way to the third round. He doesn’t have a ton of upside in 2024, as Jacobs is still one of the best running backs in the league at this point. Lloyd is a good depth piece that may turn into a valuable piece later down the road.
