Denzel Boston | Washington | 6’4 , 210 lbs | Dec 6, 2003 (22 years)
Denzel Boston was drafted by the Cleveland Browns, becoming the 7th wide receiver and 39th overall player in the 2026 NFL Draft.
COLLEGE PRODUCTION
Denzel Boston was a four-year player for the Washington Huskies who got minimal playing time until his third season. This was due in large part to notable players ahead of him on the depth chart, including Rome Odunze, Jalen McMillan, and Ja’Lynn Polk at the time.
Once he stepped on the field for meaningful snaps, he was able to find some consistency in both of his final two seasons with the Huskies. His sophomore season saw him catch 63 balls for 834 yards and 9 touchdowns. His final collegiate season was slightly improved from a production standpoint as he caught 62 balls for 881 yards and 11 touchdowns in one fewer game.
Boston saw much of his production as an X and was impressive along the boundary and in the endzone. His 13.5 Y/R over his final two seasons, along with 20 total touchdowns, indicate that he can be successful down the field and in the red zone for the Browns.
FILM
As previously mentioned, Denzel Boston finds most of his success playing on the outside, but he provides a skill set that much of this class does not possess, outside of Jordyn Tyson. At 6’4” and 210 lbs., he has the near-perfect build for an X receiver. His catch radius and frame allow for an impressive contested catch ability (he was 10/13 on contested catches in 2025 alone).
Boston does not have the versatility to play in the slot since he lacks the natural twitchiness or route-running nuance to create separation from defensive backs. He also lacks downfield speed, which may limit his ability to find success at the next level. He gets off the line with a good initial burst, but lacks a true second gear to create separation for himself along the boundary.
What he lacks in speed and route nuance, he does make up for with body positioning, body control, and ball skills, however. He will be a trustworthy target in the short and intermediate passing game for whoever takes the reins at quarterback for the Browns, and will be hard to take off the field in the red zone.

ATHLETIC TESTING
Denzel Boston did not fully participate in the NFL combine, but selectively did the vertical jump, 3-cone and the 20-yard shuttle. He had an average shuttle time of 4.28s and an above average 3-cone time of 6.8. Despite his larger frame and aforementioned contested catch ability, his vertical jump was an underwhelming 35 inches. He did not participate in the 40-yard dash, but has historically been clocked around 4.6 seconds.

DRAFT ANALYSIS
Rapid Reaction to Draft Capital: Average
Rapid Reaction to Landing Spot: Average
Boston was taken in the second round by the Browns and was actually their second receiver selected in the draft. He provides a skill set that is completely different from every other receiving option in the room, in that he can play along the boundary and go up and get contested balls. The landing spot is a little concerning, given the total number of weapons in Cleveland now, and I believe that the top receiving option in the room is still Harold Fannin. The other concern that I have is that poor quarterback play may lead to limited opportunities.
The good news is that it is unlikely for the Browns to draft as heavily at skill positions in back-to-back years, so there should be some built-in job security for Boston moving into the 2027 season. I would also expect the Browns to find a franchise quarterback in what is projected to be a very deep 2027 NFL draft class.
FANTASY INSIGHTS
Denzel Boston is currently ranked as my 10th overall rookie prospect in Dynasty Superflex formats. This ranking is somewhat of a projection, as I do not expect his 2026 fantasy production to be deserving of being a late first round rookie selection. He is a prototypical X receiver that could find a strong role in Cleveland next to Harold Fannin and fellow incoming rookie receiver KC Concepcion. Better quarterback play should be on the horizon, and I am projecting Boston to have a career arc like that of Michael Pittman, since their play style is very similar.
