Today I’m going to be going through round one of a full 12-team superflex dynasty mock draft for the 2024 rookie class. In addition to Superflex, these are for full-point PPR and TEP settings. I’m going to include tier breaks for where I think they exist for this class.
Tier 1 – The best of the best
1.01 – Caleb Williams (QB – USC)
By this point, everyone should know Caleb Williams is something special. He passed for 3,633 yards with 30 TDs and 5 INTs for the Trojans this season. This follows up his Heisman-winning 2022, where he had 4,537 yards and 42 TDs to go along with a mere 5 INTs. His monstrous passing numbers compared with the few interceptions show that he’s a magician on the field. I hate to compare anyone to Patrick Mahomes as he’s such a special talent, but Caleb Williams is as close as we’re going to get. The easy selection here at 1.01 for Superflex leagues.
1.02 – Drake Maye (QB – UNC)
Another lock for NFL success is Drake Maye, someone just a step behind Caleb Williams for the 1.01. Maye passed for 3,608 yards with 24 TDs and 9 INTs this season after already putting together an impressive 2022 campaign. Maye should be a lock for the second overall pick in the actual NFL draft, making him a lock for the 1.02 in Superflex drafts as well. Maye is 6’4”, 230 lbs. with a cannon for an arm. He and Caleb Williams are in a tier of their own.
Tier 2 – Top-tier, game-breaking talents
1.03 – Marvin Harrison Jr (WR – OSU)
Marvelous Marv Jr won the Biletnikoff Award for best WR in the country this season after going for 1,211 yards and 14 TDs. Miraculously, he was even better in 2022. He’s a generational talent, on par with the likes of Ja’Marr Chase. I have him as a tier under the top QBs only because in Superflex leagues, it’s all about QBs and they should always be at the top. Marv is easily the 1.03 for Superflex and the unquestioned 1.01 for non-Superflex drafts.
1.04 – Jayden Daniels (QB – LSU)
Daniels, this year’s Heisman trophy winner, is the quintessential Konami QB who can get it done with his arm and his legs. He passed for 3,812 yards and 40 TDs this year while adding another 1,134 yards and 10 TDs on the ground. I expect him to get top-10 draft capital in the actual NFL Draft, which would easily make him the QB3 of this class and just one step behind Marvin Harrison Jr.
1.05 – Malik Nabers (WR – LSU)
Nabers had 1,569 yards and 14 TDs in 2023 as the main target for Jayden Daniels. Along with OSU, LSU is WRU and consistently produces successful WRs in the league. Nabers will be no different and is the easy choice for 1.05 here. He will be an early first-round pick in the actual NFL Draft, can run every route, and should take the league by storm on day one.
Tier 3 – The last of the true elites
1.06 – Brock Bowers (TE – Georgia)
Bowers is probably the best TE prospect to come out since Kyle Pitts and should be drafted as such in the NFL Draft and dynasty rookie drafts alike.
1.07 – Rome Odunze (WR – Washington)
Odunze amassed 1,640 yards and 13 TDs for the Huskies in 2023. For me, Odunze is the last “can’t miss” elite prospect in this draft class and there is a massive tier break after 1.07. Odunze was a big reason for the emergence of Michael Penix because he is that kind of WR—one that can make any QB look good.
Tier 4 – The best of the rest
1.08 – Brian Thomas Jr. (WR – LSU)
Lining up alongside a talent like Malik Nabers means Brian Thomas Jr. probably had the least talked about 17 TD season we’ve ever seen. Still, Thomas is oozing with talent and I’d love to see him get first-round draft capital or land in a great situation so he can show what he can do in the league. At 6’4”, 205 lbs. Thomas is a big-bodied WR who can also separate with the best of them.
1.09 – Troy Franklin (WR – Oregon)
Franklin is 6’3″ and 187 lbs., making him pretty thin for an NFL WR. However, Franklin has the height and is incredibly fast; players like Tank Dell have shown us there’s been a shift in the NFL and speed kills. Ten years ago I would’ve said no way to Franklin as a top prospect, but in today’s NFL, I believe he can have success and I’d love to see him land well.
Tier 5 – Rounding out the first round
1.10 – Blake Corum (RB – Michigan)
Corum will be the only RB you find in my mock draft and with good reason. He’s a bit short at 5’8”, but weighs 214 lbs. and is sheer muscle. Corum also has good speed and amazing field vision. He had 27 TDs this year for the Wolverines and put the whole world on notice during the college football playoff, dominating both Alabama and Washington.
1.11 – Xavier Worthy (WR – Texas)
Worthy is an undersized speedster who will have to land in the right landing spot to truly succeed in the league, ideally with a QB who can utilize his skills. While he stands at 6’1” and just 172 lbs., in the right situation he can be a killer deep threat. Similarly to Franklin, I would’ve been out on him ten years ago, but with the ever-changing NFL, Worthy is worth a first-round pick at 1.11.
1.12 – Keon Coleman (WR – FSU)
Coleman is the opposite of a guy like Xavier Worthy, as he stands 6’4” and 216 lbs. His game also couldn’t be more different being a true jump ball WR who had trouble getting separation in college. He has great hands and he can have some success in the league despite the lack of separation skills in the red zone as an Alshon Jeffery-type WR.
