M. Ibrahim | Minnesota 5’8” 203 lbs. | 09/08/1998 (24)
Mohamed Ibrahim went undrafted in the 2023 NFL Draft, but he was quickly signed as a UDFA by the Detroit Lions.
COLLEGE PRODUCTION
| Year | Games Played | Attempts | Yards | Yards/Attempt | TDs |
| 2018 (FR) | 10 | 202 | 1,160 | 5.7 | 9 |
| 2019 (SO) | 10 | 114 | 604 | 5.3 | 7 |
| 2020 (JR) | 7 | 201 | 1,076 | 5.4 | 15 |
| 2021 (SR) | 1 | 30 | 163 | 5.4 | 2 |
| 2022 (SR) | 12 | 320 | 1,665 | 5.2 | 20 |
Ibrahim is a former three-star recruit that chose Minnesota over Kentucky, Iowa, and others. As a redshirt freshman in 2018, he split time between two other running backs and still managed to top 1,100 rushing yards on just 202 carries. In the 2018 Quick Lane Bowl, he earned the MVP award after rushing for 224 yards and two touchdowns against Georgia Tech. He followed that impressive season with another, although his production took a hit. Splitting time again, he turned 114 carries into 604 rushing yards and seven scores. 2020 was possibly his best season, as the team only played in seven games due to a shortened Covid-19 season. In those seven games, Ibrahim produced 1,076 yards and 15 touchdowns.
His production earned him first-team All-Big Ten and the Ameche-Dayne Running Back of the Year award (best running back in the Big Ten). A ruptured Achilles tendon limited his play in 2021 to just one game. He bounced back in a big way this past season as the true lead back for the Golden Gophers. The fifth-year Senior turned 320 rushing attempts into 1,665 yards and 20 touchdowns. He finished third in the nation in rushing yards BUT tied for first in rushing touchdowns!

STRENGTHS
So tough to bring down! Has a great build for his height on top of his impressive, compact frame. Talented in short-yardage situations and attacks the defender(s) with pure anger and leans forwards through his runs. Tremendous contact balance and oftentimes racks up yards after initial contact. Gets to the second level often, as he’s a patient runner who shows great vision and decisiveness, reading and attacking a lane when it opens.
WEAKNESSES
Won’t outrun anyone in the secondary. Lacks athleticism, explosiveness, and creativity. Doesn’t have a ton of pass-catching production on his resume. Only hauled in 22 receptions for 145 yards in 40 career collegiate games. Has a history of lower-body injuries. His age and durability are a bit concerning. Will be 25 years old as a rookie. Projects as a depth piece at best at the pro level.
ATHLETIC TESTING
Ibrahim measures 5’8” and 203 lbs., which equates to a BMI of 30.9. Ibrahim didn’t participate in the NFL Combine nor is there any record of results from his Minnesota Pro Day. On film, Ibrahim shows elite strength, as it oftentimes took multiple defenders to drag him down. His biggest red flags are his athleticism, age, and durability. His speed looks to be below average on film as well.

DRAFT ANALYSIS
Rapid Reaction to Landing Spot: Average
Ibrahim was signed by the Lions as a UDFA.
After going undrafted, the Lions gave a hefty contract to pull Ibrahim into Detroit. The deal includes a guaranteed amount of $100,000, which is about what a seventh-round pick gets. This is usually an early sign that the team plans for him to be on the 53-man roster when September rolls around. David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs will serve as the one-two punch for this team. But Ibrahim could serve as the RB3 if he beats out Craig Reynolds and Jermar Jefferson.
FANTASY INSIGHTS
It’s hard to say that Ibrahim will bring any fantasy value playing behind Montgomery and Gibbs. But if you want to use him as an insurance piece for your team because you have either one of Montgomery or Gibbs, that’s totally viable. He’s not worth drafting in your rookie drafts, but he could be snagged afterward and placed on your taxi squad.
