Hendon Hooker | Tennessee 6’03” 217 lbs. | 01/13/1998 (25)
Hendon Hooker was drafted by the Detroit Lions becoming the fifth Quarterback and 68th overall player in the 2023 NFL Draft.
COLLEGE PRODUCTION
Hendon Hooker became Tennessee’s starting Quarterback at the start of the 2021 season and has not looked back. He amassed 6,000 passing yards, 58 touchdowns, and only 10 interceptions on 435 passes. His raw stats are good but my elite thresholds see him even better. He boasts a best season (BS) yards per team pass attempt of 9.7, a BS completion percentage of 69.6%, a career touchdown rate of 8.5, a 172.2 career passer rating (second to only C.J. Stroud), and lastly a BS rush yard per game of 77.5. Hooker has a production profile that can turn into an elite fantasy asset at the QB position.
ANALYTICS AND FILM
I live and breathe in the numbers when playing fantasy and Hooker is a player that excels there. But you still need to incorporate film to have any chance at a useful process. The consensus of my trusted film guys is that Hooker is old but was a skilled player and would be a shoo-in first-round pick if he did not get injured. When you add his great analytics to this you have a player with a high chance to succeed in the NFL. There have been 10 QBs since 2014 to hit all of the production metrics I listed above, these players had an elite hit rate of 50% and an overall hit rate of 80%, making them very safe bets. Some of the players from this group include; Andrew Luck, Kyler Murray, Joe Burrow, Jalen Hurts, Johnny Manziel, Sam Howell, Trevor Lawrence, and Justin Fields. I am very excited to watch Hooker play in the league.
ATHLETIC TESTING
Unfortunately, Hooker was injured and could not perform during the Combine or on a Pro Day.

DRAFT ANALYSIS
Rapid Reaction to Draft Capital: Average
Rapid Reaction to Landing Spot: Great
Hooker was selected with the 68th overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft by the Detroit Lions.
FANTASY INSIGHTS
Hendon Hooker gets to sit and play backup to a proven NFL QB in Jared Goff. This is exactly what he needed so that he doesn’t have to rush and can heal his knee up to 100% while learning from a good player. Then if Hooker does eventually start he gets to play behind a solid line on a team that is not afraid to add good receiving weapons. Amon-Ra St. Brown is a great young receiver, Jameson Williams is a good young prospect, and the team just added a first-round RB and second-round TE in this draft. I think this spot was great for Hooker and I currently have him ranked as a mid-second-round rookie pick in SuperFlex leagues.
