Devon Achane | Texas A&M 5’09” 188 lbs. | 10/13/2001 (21)
Devon Achane was drafted by the Miami Dolphins, becoming the sixth Running Back and 84th overall player in the 2023 NFL Draft.
COLLEGE PRODUCTION
Devon Achane played in the SEC conference and over his final two collegiate seasons amassed just under 2500 yards and scored 21 touchdowns. This is an impressive feat because the SEC is so tough. He also has some eye-popping market share numbers, 80% best season rush TD share and 19.7% best season reception share are both insane numbers. These are the high-value touches that are so coveted in today’s NFL and Achane has shown to be impressive in both at the highest level of competition in college football.
ANALYTICS AND FILM
Achane seems to be a fan of film grinders and analytics nerds alike, this combination creates a blue-chip player in my opinion. On film, he is a dynamic runner that can hit the hole hard but also create a lot of missed tackles. Some worry about his size but similar to Bryce Young, this player was able to perform at a high level, at a good program, against other players that get drafted to play in the NFL. It is not a large concern for me and I think the day two draft capital shows it is not a concern for the Dolphins either.
ATHLETIC TESTING
At the Combine, Devon Achane measured 5’ 09” and 188 lbs. He ran an impressive 4.32 40-time, even for a guy of his size. He also had 4.36 shuttle and 7.05 three-cone times, these are pretty average scores. His vertical was only 33 inches and he also did not have a great broad jump which was 9’03”.
This led to an overall relative size-adjusted athletic score of 5.72 out of 10 which is just an average score, not good but also not bad.

DRAFT ANALYSIS
Rapid Reaction to Draft Capital: Great
Rapid Reaction to Landing Spot: Excellent
Achane was selected with the 84th overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft by the Miami Dolphins.
FANTASY INSIGHTS
This was the best landing spot for Devon. Miami’s run game will make perfect use of Achane’s strengths and also take away from his weaknesses. Not only this but he has a real opportunity to lead the team in RB touches right from year one. Achane’s combination of landing spot and day two NFL draft capital make him a late first-round pick in Superflex leagues.
