If you have played fantasy football long enough, you have probably heard about dynasty leagues and maybe even dipped your toes into devy formats. But a new flavor has been building momentum, and it is called Campus to Canton, or C2C for short.
At first glance, it looks like a mashup of dynasty, devy, and college fantasy football. That is because it is. But the beauty of C2C is that it brings everything together in a way that feels more alive and engaging than staring at a list of prospects who will not matter for two or three years.
So let’s break it down and make it simple. What is C2C? Why does it feel different? And why do people who try it end up hooked, even if they admit it can drive them crazy sometimes?
The Basic Setup
In a C2C league, you are running two teams at once.
You have a college fantasy football team.
You have an NFL dynasty fantasy football team.
On the college side, you are drafting and starting real college players every Saturday. Their stats in actual games fuel your lineup just like they do in traditional fantasy football. You are setting lineups, winning matchups, and chasing championships, but you are doing it with players from Alabama, Michigan, Oregon, Texas, and every other program you can name.
Here is where it gets cool. Your college roster doubles as a farm system for your NFL team. When your college players declare for the NFL Draft and get selected, they do not sit in limbo. They slide right into your NFL dynasty roster automatically. That is the pipeline.
So instead of waiting years for a devy player to maybe matter one day, you are watching him tear up Saturdays while also dreaming about what he will do for you on Sundays down the road.
C2C vs. Devy: What is the Difference?
If you have played devy before, you know the main frustration. You stash a college player, but he does not score you a single fantasy point until he gets drafted. He just sits there, frozen, for two or three years. You hope he develops, you hope he declares, and you hope he lands in a good NFL spot.
C2C fixes that.
In C2C, those same devy players actually matter right now. They score you points in college fantasy while you wait for them to graduate to the NFL side. You are not staring at a name on a roster sheet for three years. You are watching him every weekend and celebrating when he lights up the scoreboard. It is instant gratification paired with the long-term investment.
What is CFF?
Now, here is where another piece comes in. College fantasy football, or CFF for short.
CFF looks almost exactly like your standard NFL redraft league, except you are using college players instead. The focus is strictly on points. You do not worry about whether that running back is ever going to be an NFL draft pick. All that matters is what he does on Saturdays.
In other words, CFF is about riding the production in college with no strings attached. Katin Houser from East Carolina might never see an NFL sideline, but in a CFF format, he could win you weeks just by airing it out every Saturday.
In C2C, this concept matters because not every guy you draft will make it to the pros. Some of your roster will be future NFL talent, but plenty will just be CFF workhorses, players who keep your college team competitive even if they never take a snap on Sunday.
Why It Is Fun and Why It Can Be Frustrating?
Let’s start with the fun part. If you are the kind of fantasy player who loves watching college football, there is nothing better. Every game on Saturday has potential stakes for you. Suddenly, a midweek college game that most people would ignore matters because your sophomore wideout is suiting up for Toledo. You are not just waiting for the NFL slate on Sunday. Your weekend kicks off early.
It also makes you a better dynasty manager. Because you are paying attention to college players long before most NFL-only fantasy gamers, you have an edge. You know who is breaking out as a true freshman. You know who is fading. You see the trends before they hit NFL rookie drafts.
Now, the frustrating part. College rosters are massive. There are more than 130 FBS programs, each with 80 to 100 players. That is a huge pool, and not every player is fantasy relevant. Sometimes the guy you thought would break out never does. Sometimes your five-star recruit gets buried on the depth chart for two years. Sometimes a player is great in college but flames out before he ever helps you on Sundays.
That is the balance. The fun is watching your players rack up points in real time. The frustration is managing the uncertainty of young athletes and crowded depth charts.
Draft Strategy: How Do You Build a C2C Roster?
C2C startups are their own beast. You are drafting anywhere from 40 to 50 rounds between your college and NFL sides, so it pays to have a plan.
A good rule of thumb looks like this.
Rounds 1 to 10 (College Draft): Focus on high-level devy prospects who also produce right away. You want players who are likely to become NFL stars, but who also carry their weight in college fantasy. Think quarterback Arch Manning or wide receiver Jeremiah Smith. They are studs now and studs later.
Rounds 11 to 25: Shift toward pure college fantasy producers. These are the guys who might never sniff the NFL but can win you college matchups in the here and now. That high volume Group of Five wideout or that dual threat quarterback who might not have the size for the pros are gold for filling out your weekly lineup.
Rounds 26 and beyond: Now you swing for upside. Freshmen, sophomores, or under-the-radar talents who could take the next step. Maybe they do not help you much this year, but in two years, they could be stars feeding your NFL roster.
Example of one of my drafts: Rounds 1-13 “Fluff you” is my team.

This structure gives you balance. Production today, pipeline tomorrow, and upside for later.
The Double Championship Factor.
Another layer that makes C2C leagues addictive is that you are playing for two championships every season.
On the college side, you have a full fantasy season to manage, set lineups, and chase a title. At the same time, you are still competing for your NFL dynasty championship. Winning both in the same year is the dream. And it feels far more rewarding than a standard league title because you have built both squads from scratch and kept them alive across two different formats.
Why is C2C Growing?
The short answer is that it makes every weekend count. In traditional fantasy, your season really does not start until September. In dynasty, half the fun is the offseason, waiting on rookies and debating draft classes. In C2C, you are active year-round. Recruiting news matters. Breakout players matter. Bowl season matters. Spring games even matter.
It turns the entire calendar into a fantasy experience. And if you are someone who already loves college football, it just makes sense.
Final Thoughts
Campus to Canton is not for everyone. It takes more commitment, more attention, and more willingness to learn about college rosters than a typical fantasy league. But for those who dive in, it is hard to go back.
It is not just about stashing a player and waiting. It is about watching him thrive on Saturdays, celebrating his highlights in real time, and then carrying that excitement into Sundays when he graduates to your NFL roster.
Yes, it can be frustrating when players bust or when you are left scrambling for depth. But the payoff, the thrill of building teams across two levels of the game, of winning college matchups and dynasty matchups in the same season, of being ahead of the curve on the next wave of NFL talent, that is what makes C2C special.
So if you are ready to care about more than just the NFL slate, if you are ready to turn every Saturday into a fantasy experience, Campus to Canton might just be the most fun league you will ever play.
