Week 9 Streamers

At this point, you are prepping for the fantasy playoffs. Some of you need to rely on streaming options, and you have done so all season. There is nothing wrong with that, and you should do anything to win your weekly matchup. Some of these names below have been featured in this series in recent weeks. If they did it before, they can do it again. Remember, throughout this series, we will provide the best weekly options to stream at quarterback, tight end, and D/ST. Keep in mind, each streaming option will be below 50% owned, according to ESPN leagues. 

QUARTERBACK

Streamer #1: Tua Tagovailoa vs HOU, 36% owned

If you take away Tagovailoa’s early exit in Week 2, he’s been averaging an impressive 21.1 points per game. He’s also serving as the QB4 between Weeks 6 and 8. Grinding out 16.2 points against one of the best defenses in football (Bills) should bring your attention even more, as the second-year pro draws a favorable matchup here in Week 9. The Texans have been a disaster this season, and the opposing team’s quarterbacks are averaging 20.4 fantasy points per game against them this season. Therefore, Houston is allowing the eighth-most fantasy points to the quarterback position in 2021. Keep in mind, the Dolphins were heavily pursuing a Deshaun Watson trade that involved Tagovailoa, but the deal never came to fruition. This means he has the second half of this season to prove he can be the team’s franchise quarterback. If you need to stream a quarterback this week, Tagovailoa could be your best option. 

Streamer #2: Carson Wentz vs NYJ, 32.6% owned

Although Wentz seems to find a way to lose regular-season games consistently (did we all see that interception towards the end of the fourth quarter?), he’s been a solid streaming option at quarterback for most of this season. He’s the QB12 on the season, and he’s available in about 67 percent of ESPN leagues. Wentz comes into a Week 9 matchup against the Jets after posting more than 20 fantasy points in three of his last four games. New York, on the other hand, has allowed quarterbacks to score more than 20 fantasy points in three straight games. Five of the seven signal-callers that have taken on New York have scored more than 18 fantasy points this season. Take away the real-life perception you have of Wentz, and respect his fantasy outlook for this week. 

TIGHT END

Streamer #1: Evan Engram vs LV, 24.3% owned

Despite the recent trade rumors surrounding Engram, New York has decided to retain the fifth-year pro for at least the rest of this season. They didn’t have much of a choice since Kenny Golladay, Sterling Shepard, Kadarius Toney, Dante Pettis, and Saquon Barkley are all battling injuries. He’s also been a lot more active the past two weeks. His numbers aren’t eye-popping, but he’s hauled in nine receptions for 59 yards and one touchdown in Weeks 7 and 8 combined. In PPR leagues, he’s topped 10 fantasy points in two straight weeks, and he has a great chance at extending that streak to three games this Sunday against Las Vegas. The Raiders have given up the fifth-most fantasy points to tight ends this season, and they’ve allowed four different tight ends to top 12 PPR points in seven games played.  

Streamer #2: Tyler Conklin at BAL, 17.6% owned

Streaming tight ends is always one of the hardest things to do in fantasy football. Conklin hasn’t been the easiest to stream because of his inconsistent productivity, but he’s been serviceable as of late. In his last two games played, Conklin has hauled in eight of his 12 targets for 128 yards. He’s surpassed 10 PPR points in those two games, and he’s seen at least three targets in every game this season. Expect a decent outing this week against Baltimore, as the Ravens rank DEAD LAST defending tight ends in fantasy this season. In seven games, Baltimore has allowed five different tight ends to top 12 PPR points, and three of them have surpassed 23 points. In their latest matchup against the Bengals, C.J. Uzomah finished as the TE1 of Week 7, producing three receptions, 92 yards, touchdowns, and 24.1 PPR points. Streaming Conklin this week is not a bad idea at all. 

D/ST

Streamer #1: Dallas Cowboys vs DEN, 48.7% owned

Dallas’ defense has turned around this season, and they rank eighth amongst D/STs in fantasy through eight weeks. And yet, you can find them in more than half of ESPN leagues. Although they only produced two fantasy points against the Vikings in Week 2, they accumulated at least seven in their other six matchups this season. Producing at least seven should not be a tough task for them this week, as they take on a below-average Broncos offense. Denver has turned the ball over six times in the last three weeks, and they’ve given up 11 sacks during that span as well. If you need to stream a defense, Dallas is one of your best streaming options for Week 9. 

Streamer #2: Miami Dolphins vs HOU, 11.6% owned

Although the Cowboys’ defense is a great streaming option this week, Miami’s is a more enticing one. They take on a Texans team that has given up the third-most fantasy points to the D/ST position through eight weeks. Team defenses are averaging an impressive 8.9 fantasy points per game against Houston this season. On top of that, the Texans have given up a combined 33 fantasy points in their last three matchups. Miami’s defense has underperformed drastically this season, but they still have a ton of playmakers on that side of the ball. Xavien Howard is staying put for now following recent trade rumors, and the Dolphins are in a great position to win their Week 9 matchup. Despite producing six combined fantasy points in their last four matchups, they should be able to top that mark alone this week. 

BONUS

Deep Stream: Taysom Hill vs ATL, 0.9% owned

Taysom Hill is available in about 99 percent of ESPN leagues. If healthy, he is projected to be the Saints’ starting quarterback for the rest of the season due to Jameis Winston suffering a season-ending injury. He has missed the past three weeks after suffering a concussion, and he is on pace to fully participate in practice this week. Trevor Semien is in the mix to take over starting duties as well, but if Hill is named the starter, he brings a ton of fantasy value. In the four games Hill started at quarterback last season, he averaged 21.6 fantasy points per game. Two of those games were played against the Atlanta Falcons, his opponent for this week. In those two games played, Hill combined for 465 passing yards, 132 rushing yards, two passing touchdowns, two rushing touchdowns, and 47.8 fantasy points. He’s a “deep streaming” option for this week, but he could turn into an every-week starter for the rest of the season.
