Week 6 is upon us, and it’s getting crazy in the fantasy football world. You need to key in on great streaming options more than ever, as it is prime time to push for a playoff berth. Throughout this series, we will provide the best weekly options to stream at quarterback, tight end, and D/ST. Keep in mind, each streaming option will be below 50% owned, according to ESPN leagues.
QUARTERBACK
Streamer #1: Sam Darnold vs MIN, 46.8% owned
Darnold has revitalized his career in his first season with Carolina. Although he struggled last week against the Eagles (6.08 fantasy points), the Panther’s signal-caller is averaging 20.17 points per game. His matchup against Minnesota’s weak secondary should serve him well in Week 6. The Vikings have allowed more than 16.5 fantasy points to quarterbacks in three of their five games this season. They have been tough as of late, but you can expect Darnold to surpass 20 points again on his home field. Christian McCaffrey has a chance to play this week, after missing each of the last two contests. In games the All-Pro running back has played in, Darnold has averaged a promising 21.2 fantasy points per game.
Streamer #2: Teddy Bridgewater vs LV, 16.8% owned
Denver desperately missed Bridgewater during their disappointing effort against Baltimore in Week 4 (replaced by Drew Lock after suffering a concussion in the second quarter). In a tough matchup against a good Steelers defense last week, Bridgewater mustered 18.6 fantasy points. Las Vegas has struggled against quarterbacks this season, and they are missing a few key secondary players entering Week 6 (Trayvon Mullen and Damon Arnette). They’re also dealing with the drama surrounding their recently resigned head coach, Jon Gruden. Expect a solid effort from Denver’s signal-caller this week, as he should hover around that 20-point mark.
TIGHT END
Streamer #1: Hunter Henry vs DAL, 35.7% owned
Henry found himself in this article series last week, so why not ride the hot hand? He hauled in six of his eight targets for 75 yards and one touchdown for 19.5 PPR points. He finished as Week 5’s TE4, and he has a solid chance at finishing in the top-5 once again this week. Dallas’ defense has stepped up this season, but they’ve allowed a ton of fantasy points to tight ends in 2021. Entering Week 5, they had allowed the 11th-most points to tight ends this season, and Evan Engram managed to pour in 9.5 PPR points against them on Sunday. They are giving up an average of 14.54 fantasy points per game to tight ends, and Henry should produce numbers around that mark this week as well. During the last two weeks combined, Henry has combined for 10 receptions for 107 yards and two touchdowns, showcasing the reason why New England targeted him this past offseason.
Streamer #2: Evan Engram vs LAR, 30.5% owned
As I mentioned above, Engram produced 9.5 PPR points in Week 5 (TE10). Although his matchup against the Rams seems uneasy, Los Angeles has given up more than nine PPR points to tight ends in four of their five games this season. Engram should be heavily defended, but the injuries to Saquon Barkley, Kenny Golladay, Sterling Shepard, and Darius Slayton open up a ton of opportunity for the fifth-year pro this Sunday. Even if starting quarterback, Daniel Jones misses this weekend’s matchup, Engram should still be heavily involved. Someone other than Kadarius Toney needs to catch some passes for New York.
D/ST
Streamer #1: Indianapolis Colts vs HOU, 43.7% owned
The Colts have had a tough start to their 2021 season. Entering Week 6, they managed to win only one of their first five games, losing to four solid teams (Seahawks, Rams, Titans, and Ravens). Because of the tough matchups through the first five weeks of the season, Indianapolis’ defense has been overlooked, and they’ve surpassed 10 fantasy points once (Week 2 against the Rams). They draw an exceptional matchup this week at home, as they host the struggling Texans. Houston has allowed the sixth-most fantasy points to the D/ST position this season. Not only should you start the Colts this week, but you should consider making them your long-term answer at the D/ST spot, as they still draw the Texans twice, the Jaguars twice, and the Jets.
Streamer #2: Dallas Cowboys at NE, 35.4% owned
If you were to ask me three years ago, “do you think the Cowboys’ defense will be better than the Patriots’ offense by 2021,” I would have easily bet against Dallas’ defense. But here we are, and the roles have definitely changed. Trevon Diggs is a star in the making, and the Cowboys find themselves as the D/ST4 through five weeks. And yet, they’re still available in about 65 percent of ESPN fantasy leagues. You should one-thousand percent grab them and place them in your starting lineup against New England this week. D/STs have averaged 8.6 fantasy points per week against them, and Dallas has an opportunity to increase that average on Sunday.
BONUS
Deep Streamer: Mo Alie-Cox vs HOU, 0.7% owned
Deep streamers are hard to motivate fantasy managers to grab and start right away, but I have no issue telling others to do so with Alie-Cox. Look at what he’s done the past two weeks. He’s combined for six receptions, 92 yards, two touchdowns, and 27.2 PPR points. Sure, those aren’t outrageous numbers by any means, but he’s lining up against the Texans on Sunday. Houston is allowing the MOST fantasy points to tight ends this year, and they are coming off a Week 5 performance where they surrendered 24.7 PPR points to the TE position. If you find yourself with an insignificant amount of tight-end options, Alie-Cox could be your guy.
