This off-season on the Fantasy Football Fellas podcast we debuted a segment dubbed “ADP Sniping.” The idea was to take advantage of drafting online by identifying players that were pushed down by specific website rankings because we all know that there’s nothing better than sneaking one by your league mates. Well, the fun doesn’t have to end at the draft. One of my favorite tricks in Fantasy Football (you can call it a “life hack” if you want… that’s hot now, right?) is “Waiver Wire Sniping.”
This strategy is simple. Without compromising your roster (of course), look to see if you have an available roster spot or a player that you were holding as a possible fill-in for a week that is no longer needed. Then look a week or two ahead and see if any of your current starters are on a bye or have a matchup you want to avoid. By picking up a streaming option or high-end stash before the weekend action, you can “snipe” that player for free. “Sniping” allows you to eliminate the grueling wait on Wednesday or Thursday morning, hoping your Waiver Wire pick-up isn’t grabbed by another team with a lower waiver priority or more FAAB dollars. If the chips fall your way, you may have a very valuable piece for the low-low price of NOTHING.
Week 14 Streaming Options
Brett Hundley @ CLE (11%) – Streaming options at QB are not fantastic next week, and I hope that you have a better option for what is the first round of the playoffs for most leagues. However, if I had to stream a QB, I would go with Brett Hundley. The Browns currently give up the 9th most fantasy points to the position and have given up at least 2 TDs to a QB in 9 of 11 games this season.
Jimmy Garoppolo @ HOU (16%) – As I said above, streaming options are risky, and while there is a ton of unknown with Jimmy G, he gets to face a Houston defense that currently gives up the 2nd most points to QBs. Over the past five weeks, only Joe Flacco has failed to pass for at least 250 yards and two TDs. I could see Garoppolo matching those numbers in week 14.
Austin Seferian-Jenkins @ DEN (57%) – Waiver Wire Sniping favorite, ASJ is back at it again in week 14. Seferian-Jenkins gets to face off against the Broncos who have given up at least 7 fantasy points (standard scoring leagues) to a TE in 6 of their last 7 games.
Charles Clay vs. IND (34%) – After a solid four receptions for 60 yards in week 12, Clay’s ownership leaves him available as a streaming option next week. Facing off against a Colts defense that currently ranks 9th against the TE, I don’t mind adding Clay as a streaming option in the playoffs.
Buffalo Bills vs. IND (16%) – It doesn’t get much better than this for a DST matchup. The Buffalo unit isn’t fantastic, but this Colts defense just gave up 8 sacks against a Titans team that only had 18 over their first 10 games. Indy currently gives up the 2nd most points to opposing units, including 11 or more points to 4 of their last 5. Grab ‘em before they’re hot!
The Stashes – Listed in order of priority.

Spot Starters for Week 14
RB: Aaron Jones @ CLE (29%) – Keep an eye on Jones’ status for week 13, but if he suites up this week and retains the lead roll, a fantastic matchup against the Browns awaits in week 14.
WR: Josh Gordon vs. GB (69%) – Week 13 will tell us a lot about the return of Josh Gordon, but if he’s right, this is a great matchup for his return to Cleveland. The Packers currently give up the 2nd most points to opposing WRs.
Week 14 Potential Matchups to Avoid: BAL @ PIT, CAR vs. MIN, SEA @ JAX, LAR vs. PHI,
