According to Adam Schefter, Tom Brady has retired after 22 seasons. While many have come to hate the player for ruining the hopes and dreams of teams (outside of the Giants), we have to tip our caps to this man who lived a dream. So, Thomas Edward Patrick Brady, Jr., thank you and enjoy your much-deserved retirement.
Every fantasy football position player for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers takes a hit with this news and the lack of talent now at the QB position. But if you have shares of Chris Godwin or Mike Evans, you must HODL. Do not sell. It was only a short time ago they had the likes of Jameis Winston and Ryan Fitzpatrick throwing them the ball and still produced as top-30 talent. Every other pass-catcher is now a sell, even Rob Gronkowski, if he stays around. If you want to take a risk on any of these guys and obtain them, shoot your shot with third-round picks although if you are going after Evans or Godwin, you should start with a second-rounder. If I am selling, based on their production without Brady, I would look at maybe getting Darnell Mooney or someone else of that caliber, a young wide receiver with a promising future.
As for the running backs, this is a much cloudier situation. Leonard Fournette is a hold because he still has value and is a free agent so he might not even end up back in Tampa. If he stays or signs somewhere in free agency, he will more than likely be the lead back and should be treated as such. To obtain him, it will probably cost you at least a second-round pick. For the rest of the backfield, it’s a crapshoot. Ronald Jones II and Ke’Shawn Vaughn are not worth much of anything and hold little value outside of late-round picks or throw-ins on trades with bigger names.
There we have it, my Mafiosos. Tom Brady has left the building, and along with it, any hopes of Tampa winning another Super Bowl within the next three years. As always, my Heady Mafia, thanks for taking the time to read this article. If you have more questions, comments, or just want to express your love, reach out to me on Twitter. But most importantly come back to the DFF for all your fantasy football needs. Until next time!
