The Redraft Wire – Week 2

This weekly article is focused on identifying players who are owned in less than 40% of redraft leagues. These players are going to help your team win this week and every week to come! We are looking for guys you should be able to plug into your starting lineup without hesitation.

This week was extra tough on fantasy owners with major injuries all around the NFL.

(There will be no recommended FAAB spends in this article, as those decisions always depend on your team’s needs)

KJ Hamler (WR – DEN)
Ownership: 30.25%

A ton of excitement followed the Denver Broncos’ wide receiver corps this offseason. The thought of trotting out Courtland Sutton, Jerry Jeudy, and Noah Fant is certainly intriguing. Sadly, Courtland Sutton suffered another injury this Sunday against the Steelers and that means opportunity for the backups like KJ Hamler. Hamler received seven targets and caught four receptions for 48 yards. Hamler slots in as the number two receiver and likely third option in the passing game in Sutton’s absence.

Dion Lewis (RB – NYG)
Ownership: 22.65%

We’ve lost Saquon Barkley for the remainder of the 2020 season due to a torn ACL. Losing one of the game’s biggest stars is never a positive thing, no matter what team you root for. This leaves a giant hole in New Yorks’ backfield that absolutely nobody could fill. The fantasy community never thought this would happen, so backup Dion Lewis is just sitting there on just about every waiver wire. The Giants will more than likely sign someone but we’ve seen what Lewis can do in this league and he’s going to see a major increase in work going forward.

Zach Pascal (WR – IND)
Ownership: 23.78%

Zach Pascal has hovered around fantasy relevancy for a few years now in Indianapolis but it took another injury to catapult him into the spotlight. The Colts’ young star in the making, Parris Campbell, was carted off the field in this Sunday’s win against the Vikings, opening the door for Pascal. He emerged with three receptions on four targets and Philip Rivers’ lone touchdown of the game. He could have great potential if he takes over Campbell’s slot role.

Mike Davis (RB – CAR)
Ownership: 18.87%

Injuries are the story of this week’s waiver wire article. Mr. Incredible, Christian McCaffrey, suffered an ankle injury that he played through most of the game. McCaffery could very likely miss some time for preservation purposes alone and Mike Davis should see the lion share of the carries with him sidelined. Davis wasn’t productive this week, but that’s because McCaffery toughed it out and played most of the game.

Chris Hogan (WR – NYJ)
Ownership: 3.95%

It’s a battle of attrition in the NFL and Chris Hogan is one of the last men standing for the Jets. Jamison Crowder was ruled out prior to the game and Breshad Perriman suffered an injury and couldn’t return. Hogan caught six of his eight targets for 75 yards. He’s not a sexy addition by any means, but with all the injuries around the league, sometimes you’ll take what you can get.
