Raiding The IDP Waiver Wire: Week 16

Week 15 has been the most chaotic week of the 2021 season. Arguably no fantasy playoff round has ever been more challenging than this. The waiver-wire moves that fantasy gamers are making this week are season-saving moves made at the eleventh hour in reaction to COVID-IR transactions and late-breaking inactives. This reality feels likely to spill over to Week 16 as well. This week’s waiver-wire offerings will be those players who appear likely to occupy near-full-time roles in their upcoming games.

NFL Team Deep Dive: Cincinnati Bengals

As I continue with my NFL Team Deep Dive series, I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their support and encouragement since I began writing this year. I have been around the game of football for most of my life—as a player, coach, and now a Twitter scout/writer. I have huge aspirations for 2021 and am working my tail off to provide great content for anyone who chooses to follow me!

In this series, I will be taking a deep dive into every NFL teams’ situation as we turn to 2021. We will look at coaching/GM changes, team needs, salary cap/free agents, and overall fantasy outlook for 2021. The next team on the list: the Cincinnati Bengals.

NFL Team Deep Dive: Atlanta Falcons

In this series, I’ll be taking a deep dive into an NFL team situation as we turn to 2021. We will look at coaching/GM changes, team needs, salary cap/free agents, and overall fantasy outlook for 2021. The next team on the list: the Atlanta Falcons. COACHING/GM CHANGES The Atlanta Falcons fired head coach Dan Quinn after an 0-5 start to 2020. DC Raheem Morris took over as the interim head coach, finishing with a 4-7 record. GM Thomas Dimitroff was also fired, leaving behind a cap-strapped team with a few bad contracts that will make life for the new General Manager a hell of a lot tougher. As of right now, Arthur Smith is slated to become the next head coach of the Falcons. Smith spent the last 10 years with the Tennessee Titans in various roles. His longest position held was the Tight Ends coach, where he spent six of his ten seasons. His final two seasons in Tennessee were spent as the offensive coordinator. Arthur Smith’s offenses were top-10 in rushing attempts both years as the OC. They also ranked near the bottom of the league in passing attempts. In contrast, the Falcons offense in 2020 led the NFL in pass attempts with 626. A philosophical shift in the offensive scheme is on the horizon in Atlanta. TEAM NEEDS Front Seven In 2020, the Falcons defense ranked 19th in points allowed, 29th in yards allowed, and 27th in opposing QBR. Atlanta struggled to create turnovers, ranking near the bottom of the league. In 16 games, the Falcons managed

IDP Wrap Up: Week 12

WHAT WE LEARNED THIS WEEK The Atlanta defense came to play in a home drubbing of the Las Vegas Raiders. Throughout the game, the Falcons defenders were terrific, creating five turnovers, registering five sacks, and scoring a touchdown in the victory. Deion Jones, Jacob Tuioti-Mariner, and Steven Means lead the way for the Atlanta IDP producers. The Panthers defenders just put together back-to-back solid games against NFC North opponents. Last week, they shut out the Lions, and this week they scored two touchdowns in a close loss to the Vikings.  Jeremy Chinn scored both touchdowns, on consecutive snaps, to become the first defensive player to ever do that. Other IDP stars for Carolina were Zach Kerr and Jermaine Carter. On the road in Philadelphia, the Seattle Seahawks defenders were able to handle the Eagles offensive line with ease on Monday Night Football. In the game, the Seahawks managed to sack Carson Wentz six times while also intercepting him once. Players with big statistical games include Jamal Adams and K.J. Wright. TOP PLAYER PERFORMANCES Joey Bosa – DE –LOS ANGELES CHARGERS Bosa had the game of the year so far at defensive end. In his effort against Buffalo, Bosa accrued nine total tackles, six TFLs, recovered a fumble, defended a pass, and sacked Josh Allen three times. Bosa is in prime shape to contribute in a big way in the IDP playoffs. Tyrell Adams – LB – HOUSTON TEXANS Adams, a 28-year old fifth-year player out of West Georgia had a monster day on Thanksgiving. He has been on fire in his last six games, but in week 12, his 17 total tackles, two forced
