Devy TE Landscape: Part 1

We all know the tight end position is the most difficult to get right in fantasy football, and we also understand the substantial advantage one has when owning one of the few “league-breaking” tight ends in fantasy (especially in tight end premium leagues). There are many names to comb through and analyze in college football, so I will be breaking this into three parts. For Parts 1 and 2, I will give you my Top 10 TEs that are draft-eligible in 2024 (the first five in Part 1 and the next five in Part 2). In Part 3, I’ll discuss which young tight ends we should invest in for Devy leagues in the 2025 and 2026 Draft classes. So, without further ado, let’s find those tight ends that could make an impact at the NFL level.

Ja’Tavion Sanders: Better than Bowers?

There’s no denying Brock Bowers is a generational college talent. He’s arguably the best tight end in college football history, and before the injury this season, he was pacing to break the career receiving yards record for Division 1 tight ends…in just three seasons. Bowers unfortunately suffered an injury in their victory over Vanderbilt on 10/14, requiring surgery to repair a broken ankle. This type of injury typically takes four to six weeks to recover from, so Bower will likely miss at least another week or two.

Bold Predictions for 2023 Dynasty

Bold prediction articles are some of my favorite types of content to research before drafts. In preparing for my drafts, I always have specific players I want to target who I believe are values vs. their average draft position. Bold prediction articles highlight these players that analysts make cases for being better than their ADP. Do I expect the bold prediction to come true? No. But directionally, the goal is for that player to outperform their ADP. If the bold part of it comes true, that is just the proverbial cherry on top.

Devy Players of the Week

The younger brother of Miami Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa is making a name for himself in 2021. Taulia committed to Alabama out of High School and stayed for a year, but he transferred to Maryland before the 2020 season after receiving minimal playing time for the Crimson Tide. In Taulia’s first year as a starter, he was average at best, completing 61.5% of his passes for 1,011 yards,  seven touchdowns, and seven interceptions in the four games. Fast forward to today, and Tagovailoa is having a great season through four games. After a strong game against Kent State, in which he passed for 384 yards and three TDs, Taulia leads the Big Ten in completions with 111, completion % with 75.5%, passing yards with 1340, Passing Touchdowns with 10, and Passer Rating with 173.2. On top of all of that, he has just one interception, a huge difference in his seven in four games last year.
