Jadan Baugh: The Next Big Thing?

What’s roughly 230 pounds, built like a tank, and a threat to lead the nation in rushing this year?

That would be Jadan Baugh, the bruising bell cow for the Florida Gators.

Heading into his junior year, Baugh has been steamed up after landing on several preseason watch lists, including the Maxwell Award, Paul Hornung Award, and Doak Walker Award, which is given to the nation’s most outstanding running back.

Baugh was also named to the Coaches Preseason All-SEC Team, and ESPN ranked him No. 19 overall in its list of the top 100 college football players for 2026.

So why all the praise for a guy who ranked just 19th in rushing yards last season?

The FSU Explosion

The last time we saw Baugh on a football field, he delivered a historic performance against the Gators’ biggest rival: the Seminoles. In the 2025 season finale, Baugh punished defenders all game long. He toted the rock 38 times for a personal-best 266 yards and two touchdowns.

It was the second-most rushing yards in Florida history, behind only Emmitt Smith’s 316-yard performance in 1989. You may have heard of Smith, a Hall of Famer and the NFL’s all-time leading rusher. Pretty good company for Baugh.

That dominant showing capped an impressive sophomore campaign for Baugh, who was one of the few bright spots in a lost 4-8 season for the Gators. He finished with 1,170 yards on 220 carries. He also reeled in 33 receptions for 210 yards and scored 10 total touchdowns.

Who is the RB1 of the 2027 Class?

The 2027 RB class has the potential to be quite strong from a fantasy perspective (or at least miles ahead of the 2026 class), depending on who all declares. As it stands in June of 2026, there are five players I think could conceivably become the RB1 overall in this upcoming draft class: Ahmad Hardy, Jadan Baugh, Justice Haynes, Kewan Lacy, and Isaac Brown.

Today, I’ll be comparing all five of these prospects from a film and an analytical perspective to give you an idea of strengths, weaknesses, and overall value. (I also plan to use this exercise to pin down exactly how I’d like to range this group of guys in devy, because I’m having one hell of a time doing so.)

I just wrapped up some All22 film reviews from the 2025 season for each prospect, so we’ll start with my key takeaways.
