Welcome back for Part 3 of my Projecting 2027 Dynasty Ranks series! In this series, I predict what the Top 12 Dynasty ranks will look like from each position two years from now. This exercise focuses on asset longevity, which is the key to remaining competitive and avoiding rebuilds in a Dynasty.
On the docket today, we have the running back position. If you missed my first two articles, you can check out my quarterback article here and my wide receiver article here.
As a reminder, all my rankings are based on a Superflex, PPR, Tight End Premium format with four-point passing touchdowns.
2027 Running Back Ranks
1. Ashton Jeanty – TBD
Ashton Jeanty is the assumed 1.01 in Dynasty rookie drafts, regardless of format. In 2024, Jeanty led the FBS in attempts, rushing yards, rushing touchdowns, PFF Run Grade, yards after contact per attempt (YCO/A), missed tackles forced, and elusiveness rating. He’s the same tier prospect as Bijan Robinson coming out of college, who is the current Dynasty RB2 on KeepTradeCut.
The Bears and Raiders are the favorites to grab Jeanty later this month, making him a clear Top 3 Dynasty RB right out of the gate. In 2027, Jeanty will only be 23 and headed into Year 3, while Gibbs and Bijan will be 25 and in Year 5. Give me the youth here. I don’t care if he hasn’t played on Sundays yet; we’ve seen enough from this kid on tape in college to know he’s elite.
2. Jahmyr Gibbs – Detroit Lions
My current RB1, Jahmyr Gibbs, is as electric an RB as you’ll find in the NFL. Back in 2023, the ceiling projection for this young man was Alvin Kamara. His pass-catching abilities were supposed to lead the way to RB1 numbers rather than his rushing ability. We saw a combination of both in 2024, with Gibbs rushing for over 1,400 yards and 16 touchdowns while adding over 500 receiving yards and four receiving touchdowns. Gibbs’ 21.4 PPR points per game ranked 2nd amongst RBs behind only Saquon Barkley.
David Montgomery will be 30 years old and possibly gone by 2027, and we saw what Gibbs was capable of with this backfield to himself. He’s lethal enough in a split backfield, but in the final three games of the regular season, when Monty was hurt, Gibbs posted an insane 32.6 PPR points per game. League winner.
3. Bijan Robinson – Atlanta Falcons
Bijan and Gibbs are pretty interchangeable in my mind. If you wanted to swap them in your Dynasty ranks, I wouldn’t have much pushback. Like Gibbs, Bijan had a strong rookie season but exploded in Year 2, averaging a robust 20.3 PPR points per game, which was good for RB3 overall. He has the size and durability to take on 300+ rush attempts per season and has the receiving upside to challenge for RB1 overall in PPR formats. He’ll still be fairly young in 2027 and should have several seasons of elite production ahead of him. These top three are pretty firmly in a tier of their own for my rankings today, and I don’t see that changing in 2027; I just see Jeanty jumping the other two due to age.
4. Omarion Hampton – TBD
On DraftKings, Omarion Hampton has +145 odds to go within the Top 19 picks of the 2025 NFL Draft. If he falls outside this range, there’s a good chance he lands with the Denver Broncos at pick 20 and is the immediate three-down workhorse. Regardless, he appears to be a near lock to go Round 1 at this point, which should solidify Hampton as a clear Dynasty RB1 in 2025, regardless of your thoughts about him as a player.
Hampton is a big, bruising back with receiving upside, and he just turned 22 last month. Combine the youth with the proven workload and expected draft capital, and I have no qualms about projecting Hampton as my Dynasty RB4 in 2027.
5. De’Von Achane – Miami Dolphins
We saw two very different versions of Achane from Year 1 to Year 2. Achane was used sparingly as a rookie, but his unreal efficiency on the ground gave him an elite weekly upside. In Year 2, Achane put on some considerable size as he took on a workhorse role, but his efficiency fell off a cliff. Much of this can be attributed to the anemic offense in Miami while Tua was on IR.
The way Achane got there in 2024 was his role in the receiving game. He finished as the RB5 with 17.6 PPR points per game, and over 10 points per game came from the receiving side. I don’t see that going away as Achane ages, and hopefully Tua can stay healthy moving forward, bringing his efficiency numbers back up. Achane will just be 25 entering the 2027 season and likely will have already earned himself a large second contract from Miami. Achane’s receiving upside gives him an incredible safe floor, making him my Dynasty RB5 for 2027.
6. Bucky Irving – Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Bucky Irving was my biggest hit from the 2024 rookie class, and honestly, it had just as much to do with my lack of faith in Rachaad White as it did my take on Bucky the prospect. White was one of the least efficient rushers in the NFL to start his career, and Irving was clearly more dynamic and elusive. White is entering his last year on contract, but I almost hope he signs again with Tampa. White doesn’t worry me in the slightest when it comes to preventing Irving from hitting his fantasy upside.
Irving really came on in the second half of the year as his role expanded, averaging over 18 PPR points per game from Weeks 10-18. Bucky is young, electric, and an excellent pass catcher. I expect he can remain a mid-RB1 in 2027 and for several years after.
7. TreVeyon Henderson – TBD
Around RB7, I realized I would have to start making some bold predictions. With the RB shelf life generally being shorter than all other positions, there will be plenty of movement in the Dynasty Top 12 between now and 2027, with several newcomers. TreVeyon is projected to be a Round 2 selection on NFL Mock Draft Database, a range where we’ll be excited, but landing spot will be a bigger deal.
I’ve been a fan of Henderson since his freshman year breakout and believe he has the skill set to be an elite fantasy player at the next level if given the opportunity. He’s shifty, explosive, and reliable as a pass catcher and pass protector. He would have been the RB1 had he declared in 2024. TreVeyon should be in his prime in 2027, at 24 years of age. Frankly, I think he has the upside to climb even higher than this.
8. Jeremiyah Love – Notre Dame
Love is a 2026 NFL prospect and my Devy RB1 currently. He broke out this past season as a true sophomore, rushing for over 1,100 yards and 17 touchdowns, also adding 237 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns. And he did all this alongside Jadarian Price, another highly talented RB who has the chance to play on Sundays.
What excites me most about Love’s game is his versatility. He’s physical enough to carry a large workload but is built more like a wide receiver and can line up anywhere on the field. My one concern is durability, as Love has dealt with several minor lower-body injuries throughout his career; nothing significant, but still something to watch. Love should be an early declare in 2026 and will be just 21 years old entering the 2027 season. He has the pedigree and the athleticism to develop into a league-winner.
9. Breece Hall – New York Jets
Rumors are circulating that Breece Hall could be on the move in 2025, which may be good, given HC Aaron Glenn‘s recent comments on wanting to make this a committee backfield in New York. Breece is headed into the final year of his rookie deal, and he’s proven more than enough to earn a multi-year deal for his second contract. I view Hall in a similar light to Achane; both should have extremely safe floors, given their pass-catching prowess. Breece has posted 15 or more PPR points per game in all three seasons thus far. We can expect similar production in 2027, and he’ll only be 26, so he could still have several good years left in him.
10. Quinshon Judkins – TBD
Quinshon is firmly behind his former teammate TreVeyon Henderson in my Dynasty rankings today. However, that could easily change if we get something like Judkins to Las Vegas or Dallas in Round 2 or even Pittsburgh in Round 1. Quinshon was far from an efficient rusher in his college career, but he has the size and physicality to take on a large workload. Like Henderson, Judkins broke out as a true freshman in the P4. He should be a Day 2 pick and could easily climb to Top 12 territory well before 2027.
11. Darius Taylor – Minnesota
Initially, I had Nicholas Singleton as my Devy RB2 heading into 2025, but after further consideration, I had to put my guy Darius Taylor ahead of him. Taylor is finally starting to get the love he deserves in Devy circles. He’s a huge part of this Minnesota Gophers offense and is arguably the best pass-catching RB in the country. In 2024, Taylor finished third amongst FBS running backs with 62 targets, securing 54 for a solid 1.42 yards per route run. He’s not an elite rusher (yet), but I expect him to make more strides in Year 3 and declare for the 2026 NFL Draft. Taylor has an ideal build for an NFL running back and is one of the few bright spots in an otherwise lackluster 2026 class.
12. Nate Frazier – Georgia
To round out my Top 12 Dynasty RBs for 2027, we’ll go with a 2027 NFL prospect in Nate Frazier out of Georgia. Frazier posted some incredible raw numbers for a true freshman at one of the better programs in the country, alongside some stiff competition. He finished with more attempts and rushing yards than Trevor Etienne, who could be selected as early as Day 2 in the 2025 NFL Draft.
We’ll need to see Frazier improve as a rusher in 2025 if he hopes to remain the RB1 of this class. His missed tackles forced, yards after contact, breakaway rate, and elusiveness rating were all well below average in 2024. We’ll give him the benefit of the doubt, though, being a true freshman. Frazier was a high four-star recruit out of high school and will be just 21 years old on draft night in 2027. This is very much a projections-based bet, and the 2025 college season will tell us a lot.
