We are now in the dead zone for Fantasy Football and by all means, enjoy your cookouts and poolside adventures. Also please remember that this is the last month without NFL football. So, if your league has trades open now and you really want to get away from your wife and kids, in-laws or the relatives who pop by unannounced like Cousin Eddie in Christmas Vacation, I have your escape. So, grab your phone, tablet or laptop and find a hole in the attic or crawl space and read this 8 part series of IDP Buy/Sell. If you immerse yourself into this series, you will win a lot in your IDP leagues. Now, welcome to the series that WILL take you to the promise land.
Buy: Jabari Peppers, Safety – You know if he didn’t land in a perfect spot to play early on he would not have made this article. He will start at strong safety (Which is a huge need here!) in Cleveland. Once he gets used to the game speed in the NFL he will give you a nice stat line. If the Browns brass keeps him at one position so he can learn the nuances of only one spot I think he will flourish and his ball production will improve.
Sell: Christian Kirksey, Linebacker – After the acquisition of Jamie Collins from the Patriots, and the new hire of Gregg Williams. Mr. Kirksey, who signed a new contract recently, will be moved out of the middle of the Browns defense. He now will play the weak side. While he will still be productive on a defense that will have a ton of time on the field, Mr. Kirksey will not be a 3 down player because of his lack of coverage abilities.
Buy: Vince Williams, Linebacker – I have been carrying the torch high for this young man and last week he was confidently picked to take over the starting inside linebacker job after Lawrence Timmons signed with the Miami Dolphins. If you don’t know who he is and he is on your waiver wire, then go and grab him.
Sell: Bud Dupree, Linebacker – Let me just say first I think Bud Dupree is a great football player, but in IDP he is a high risk high reward OLB. I understand the love for the hustle monster, and can kind of understand his higher ADP but he will never be that high on my list. Sell to that Bud lover in your league and go and get a middle or inside consistent scoring LBer. Like B.J. Goodson in New York or an A.J. Klein in New Orleans.
Buy: Jordan Willis, Defensive end – This 39 game starter in college and 94th-percentile SPARQ score beast out of K-State has a very high motor and will be a situational pass rusher this year on the IDP squad that is lacking in talent.
Sell: Vontaze Burfict, Linebacker – First, let me say I HATE cheap shot players. So, I would sell him based on that. But, if you want to sell him off make sure you let the person know that he is only 26 years old and he still is an elite talent. But after multiple knee, foot and brain injuries and him being an OLB screams SELL!!!!!!
Buy: Kamalei Correa, Linebacker – After the unexpected retirement of stud IDP linebacker Zach Orr, there is now an opening at the other inside linebacker spot on the Ravens defense. Correa played a good amount on special teams and only 48 defensive snaps last year, but coach John Harbaugh feels confident that Kamalei can play on the inside or worst case IDP scenario, he will be set up on the outside.
Sell: C.J. Mosley, Linebacker – Coming off an offseason shoulder injury, Mr. Mosley will look to recover this year, but all in all, I don’t and never found him a good IDP piece. He ranked 36th for me at the end of 2016, and he only missed two games. Sell him to that Raven lover you know.
