The Cleveland Browns selected Harrison Bryant, Tight End, out of Florida Atlantic University (FAU). He was the 115th pick in the fourth round and was the sixth tight end drafted in the 2020 NFL Draft.
Harrison Bryant is 6’5” and 243. He played four seasons at FAU and will be 23 years old at the beginning of the 2020 NFL Season. Bryant did not have any injuries of note during his college career.
Bryant had a fantastic senior year with FAU bringing in 65 catches, 1,004 yards, and seven touchdowns, leading his team in each statistical category. Bryant also led all tight ends in the nation in receptions and yards in 2019. Those numbers were good enough to earn him the John Mackey Award for the top tight end in the nation. Statistically improving each season, by his senior year, he was commanding close to a 20% target share. His college dominator rating of 26.2% put him in the 80th percentile for his position.
If you want a glimpse of what he can contribute, do yourself a favor and watch the film of Harrison Bryant against the Ohio State Buckeyes. He had a great game in what was an awful showing for FAU. Bryant has the ability to contribute in all phases of the game. He jumps off the screen as a smart athlete who has the ability to find the holes in the defense and has great field awareness. He has average speed for his position (4.73 40-yard dash), but when he gets the ball in his hands he can turn on another speed.

The Cleveland Browns have a ton of mouths to feed on offense, but I don’t believe the plan is for Harrison Bryant to necessarily contribute year one. He will be competing for touches with Austin Hooper and David Njoku from the start. That said, Njoku has never fully realized his potential and should provide a nice one-year cushion for Bryant to put on weight and get acclimated to the speed of the NFL. With a young group of offensive weapons, Bryant slots in nicely as the tight end of the future for the Browns. It may take him some time to break through for the Browns, but he has the potential to shine down the road. Cleveland only targeted their tight ends 13% of the time in 2019 and Bryant is a big kid who should make for a nice red-zone target for years to come. His ability to move around the field and run after catch makes him a very intriguing option.
Playing most of his high school career as an offensive tackle, he has good blocking experience but has also shown soft hands as a pass-catcher. Bryant certainly looks the part on film and in the stat sheet and should be able to make an impact quicker than most in this tight end draft class. Coming in as my number one tight end prospect in this draft class, I would take him in the early-to-mid third round in dynasty rookie drafts, though, Hooper clouds his value a little bit.
