Jamal Adams has been traded to the Seattle Seahawks by the New York Jets! Wow, very exciting news that I’m sure everyone has heard about but I still felt the need to shout it out, so to speak, for all to hear. Which means I was definitely wrong when I wrote about this just a few days ago. I didn’t foresee a deal happening before the season. It did and it was a big one that included safety Bradley McDougald, a first-round pick in 2021 and 2022, and a third-round pick in 2021. The Seahawks got Jamal Adams and a fourth-round pick in 2022 in return. That’s established, we know the trade details, let’s get to the real reason we’re here, future telling with Jamal Adams.Â
Jamal Adams
I don’t believe Jamal Adams’s fantasy future is going to change that dramatically. The Seahawks brought him in because he’s the most talented box safety in the league and I believe they’ll utilize him in the role he’s most comfortable in. He’s not a ball hawk like some other safeties. He’s only had two career interceptions, but he’s a tackle machine with 273 combined tackles, 28 tackles for loss, and twelve sacks in only three seasons. Jamal Adams has 25 career pass defections and 23 quarterback hits to go along with six forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries. Why would the Seahawks change what he does? He’s a big play waiting to happen. This has been revealed to me by the other realms!
Bradley McDougald
Bradley McDougald’s outlook is capped by his ability. He’s a fine player, but he’s never going to put together a hundred tackle season. He came close and he’s had plenty of opportunities to do so before, he’s not just going to emerge as another player suddenly because of the scenery change. He’s probably just a placeholder there in New York until they find the right guy, my mystical powers unveil unto me!
Marcus Maye
Here’s another name that’s been thrown into the mix. Maye is a very good deep safety but I’m not sure he could fill into that role of almost linebacker that Adams played. That’s not his style of play and I don’t see how he could do it and succeed. Some of my colleagues would disagree and believe he’s going to benefit greatly from the Adams trade, not me. He’ll see a slight uptick in tackles but nothing major because we have another player in all this revealed to me by otherworldly powers!
Ashtyn Davis
The third-round rookie safety out of Cal is supposed to be a fast versatile safety able to cover many positions. He’s aggressive when making a play for the ball. He’s gonna need some time before we even know what his place on the team is. I suspect the Jets use a situational rotation and no one guy gets the complete Jamal Adams role. This the fates have revealed to me!
Did Seattle make the right move? Jamal Adams is an All Pro safety that brings a ton of talent and leadership to your team. He’s also shown himself to be a bit vocal when it comes to his needs, which are going to be great when the time comes to pay. Did the Jets make the correct move when they traded for McDougald and those two first-round picks? Other than Adams, they haven’t been too terribly successful with their draft picks lately. You can’t always lose though, right? Let me tell you something, it’s tough to tell the future without a crystal ball and some magic.Â
