Alvin Kamara

Dynasty Vet Values – Vol. 7

Welcome back for the final Dynasty Vet Values article of the 2024 season! Week 14 has arrived, which means the Fantasy Football playoffs are approaching. For those leagues with a trade deadline of Week 14 (or no trade deadline), you still have time to make some moves and improve your championship odds on your contending teams. In this series, I cover veteran players who are excellent targets for your contending teams based on current Dynasty market value. We all know youth and longevity are essential to remain competitive in Dynasty. But the ultimate goal is to win fantasy championships, and sometimes that means acquiring that “win-now” asset who may be past his prime.

I’ll be using KeepTradeCut to determine each player’s current market value. This is a crowdsourced Dynasty ranking site, so it gives us a great idea of where the community stands.

Alvin Kamara (RB – NO)

KTC Rank: RB21

Alvin Kamara was featured in one of my early-season articles and has not disappointed. In Year 8, Kamara is still producing at an elite level for fantasy purposes. He’s currently sitting with 19.6 PPR points per game, good for RB3 overall this season. He’s still seeing a large workload as a rusher and, more importantly, as a pass catcher. Kamara has earned 5+ targets in nine games this year and 8+ targets in five. Quite simply, he’s a PPR cheat code. Kamara has an excellent matchup against the Giants this week, followed by another good matchup versus Washington in what should be the first round of the fantasy playoffs for most.

Regarding projections beyond 2024, the Saints recently signed Kamara to a two-year, $24.5M extension. Kamara has told the media he wants to retire a Saint, and it appears the front office in New Orleans feels the same way. Kamara has no other competition in this backfield and has shown no signs of slowing down, yet he’s valued as the RB21 in KeepTradeCut. This value is slightly above that of an early 2025 second-round rookie pick. If Kamara is still stuck on a non-playoff team, offer up a 2nd + 3rd and get yourself a league winner in Alvin Kamara. I’d be willing to pay more, but that’s a good starting point.

Brian Robinson Jr. (RB – WAS)

KTC Rank: RB17

Let me preface this one by saying this is only a good buy in specific instances, given that Washington is on a bye in Week 14. If you are already locked into a bye week, or you are locked into a playoff spot but have no chance at a bye, Robinson is an excellent buy, as this week shouldn’t matter to you. If the current B-Rob owner is fighting for a playoff spot, you may even be able to buy low, assuming they are desperate for points.

I don’t think Robinson is an overly exciting Dynasty prospect, but his situation makes him an attractive target for contending rosters this year. Veteran RB Austin Ekeler was recently placed on IR, meaning this backfield is down to Robinson, Jeremy McNichols, and Chris Rodriguez. Some may be under the impression this is more of a committee after Week 13, with Rodriguez seeing 13 touches for 94 yards and a touchdown. But he saw all his work in the second half when the game was clearly out of reach. Robinson is still the early-down back in this offense. He also has a pretty favorable matchup against New Orleans in Week 15, if you have a Round 1 matchup in the playoffs.

Robinson doesn’t have an elite weekly ceiling, as his role in the passing game is limited, but he has touchdown upside, with Washington ranking fourth in the NFL in PPG this year. If you need an additional flex option you can rely on for 14-20 points, B-Rob is your guy. Similar to Kamara, Robinson should have a similar price tag of a 2nd + 3rd or something along those lines. Target Kamara first, but Robinson is a nice consolation prize if that is not possible.

Courtland Sutton

Courtland Sutton (WR – DEN)

KTC Rank: WR41

Courtland Sutton went from a borderline roster clogger in Dynasty to a potential league winner, thanks to Denver’s new franchise quarterback, Bo Nix. Sutton has seen 8+ targets in six consecutive games now, averaging over 20 PPR points per game in that span. He’s seen a career-high 23% targets per route run this season, with that number up at 27% in the past six games. Like Robinson, Sutton is also on a bye this week, so this is not a move you want to make if you’re fighting for a playoff spot. But if you are already headed for the postseason, Sutton could be a game-changer for you. He has great matchups against Indianapolis in Week 15 and Cincinnati in Week 17, and with Denver being a presumed playoff team, there is no chance of them shutting Sutton down to end the year.

Sutton is valued outside the top 40 Dynasty WRs on KeepTradeCut but is WR8 overall this season. He should still be a Bronco in 2025, and I expect him to remain the WR1 for Nix in what has turned into an above-average NFL offense. You may be able to buy Sutton for as little as an early 2nd if he’s still on a rebuilder’s team. Buy aggressively, as Sutton should have a productive 2025 season as well.
