Darius Cooper: Grab, Stash, Profit

Let me tell you why I’m buzzing about Darius Cooper, and why he’s a perfect name to drop into your Dynasty radar now, and his potential in Redraft Leagues with valuation in fantasy football auction values. At 23 years old, 5′ 11″, 209 lbs. This kid is coming out of Tarleton State with numbers that demand attention, and he’s already grabbed that preseason game and ran with it like his life depended on it.

Back in college, Cooper worked his way up big time. In 2022, he caught 54 passes for 1,063 yards and nine touchdowns, earning First-Team All-WAC honors. In 2023, the numbers dipped to 28 catches for 622 yards and five scores, but he still made Second-Team All-UAC and stayed on the map. Then in 2024, he exploded, 76 grabs, 1,450 yards, 14 TDs, first-team All-UAC, and a First-Team FCS All-American nod. He wasn’t just piling up stats; he was dominating. He finished second in all of Division I in receiving yards and averaged over 19 yards per catch. That’s high-level production right there.

Now, he came into the NFL as an undrafted free agent, signed by the Eagles. Some would see that and write him off. I saw it and leaned in. In the Eagles’ preseason opener, he goes out and delivers six catches for 82 yards and a touchdown. That was team-leading production in his first NFL action.

The Eagles’ receiver room is headlined by A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith, the unquestioned top two options. Behind them, things are far less settled. Second-year wideout Johnny Wilson has been ruled out for the season with a knee injury, while recently acquired John Metchie needs more time to get up to speed with the playbook. That leaves Jahan Dotson penciled in as the WR3 for now. His role isn’t locked in, and Cooper is already making a strong case to push him for that spot. With his combination of physical tools, proven production, and now quality tape to back it up, Cooper is positioning himself as a real factor in this rotation. With Dotson and Metchie both in contract years, Cooper is a great stash for Dynasty owners.

Here’s why I’m calling him A.J. Brown 2.0 in the making. Brown made his name by being a physical, fearless receiver who could take over games, and Cooper shows that same DNA. From what I can see, he bullies corners at the line, and when the ball’s in the air, it’s his, period. At the college level, he didn’t just produce, he dominated. He’s got that same yards-after-catch toughness, the same “throw it up and I’ll go get it” confidence, and the same ability to turn a routine slant into a highlight reel. The only real difference is draft pedigree. Brown was a second-round pick, Cooper went undrafted, which is exactly why I see him as the kind of stash that could blow up in value fast.

This is exactly the kind of player you toss onto a bench in dynasty, wait for the buzz to build, and cash in midseason. He’s not just a fun sleeper; he’s the next man up, barring any injuries. When teams make mistakes, it’s a lack of prep or overlooking someone like him. I’m telling you right now, grab Darius Cooper, stash him, and profit later.

Bottom line! If you’re still drafting, find a way to get him. If not? Offer a little sweetener in trades and stash him. You’ll be patting yourself on the back when the season starts, and he’ll turn heads every weekend.
