C2C Waiver Report: Post Week 7

Week 7 gave us several interesting players to attack on the C2C waiver wire. We have a running back producing as both a runner and receiver, a quarterback creating opportunities with his legs, and a couple of tight ends becoming reliable campus options. The approach stays the same. Win the campus side first, then look at C2C appreciation, youth, and ceiling. Every recommendation assumes a $100 C2C FAAB budget.

Overall Waiver Order

  1. AJ Newberry, RB, Oregon State: Add at 16 to 22 percent if available
  2. Ajani Sheppard, QB, Temple: Add at 12 to 18 percent if available
  3. Ryan Browne, QB, Purdue: Add at 6 to 10 percent if available
  4. Cole Keller, TE, James Madison: Add at 3 to 6 percent if available
  5. Eric Olsen, TE, Oregon State: Add at 3 to 6 percent if available
  6. Michael Scott, WR, James Madison: Add at 2 to 5 percent if available
  7. TJ Horton, RB, Ball State: Watch at 3 to 6 percent
  8. Jaylon Hawkins, WR, San Diego State: Watch at 0 to 2 percent

Quarterbacks

Ajani Sheppard, Temple

Sheppard completed 15 of 23 passes for 236 yards and one touchdown while adding 70 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns against Charlotte. Through seven games, he has completed 74 of 120 passes for 1,127 yards, eight touchdowns, and no interceptions, along with 329 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns. The rushing production gives him another way to help our campus lineups, making him my favorite quarterback target this week.

Ryan Browne, Purdue

Browne completed 21 of 41 passes for 273 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions against Washington while adding 15 rushing yards and one touchdown. Through seven games, he has completed 145 of 221 passes for 1,822 yards, 10 touchdowns and three interceptions, along with 68 rushing yards and two touchdowns. The passing volume makes him worth considering in Superflex leagues, but Sheppard offers more rushing upside.

AJ Newberry

Running Backs

AJ Newberry, Oregon State

Newberry rushed 11 times for 105 yards against Washington State while adding five receptions for 120 yards and one touchdown. Through seven games, he has 65 carries for 431 yards and three rushing touchdowns, along with 24 receptions for 288 yards and one receiving touchdown. The receiving involvement gives him additional value in PPR leagues, making him my top waiver target this week.

TJ Horton, Ball State

Horton has 43 carries for 311 yards and five rushing touchdowns through six games, averaging 7.2 yards per carry. The efficiency is impressive, but he is averaging just over seven carries per game. I want to see a larger workload before trusting him as a weekly campus starter.

Wide Receivers

Michael Scott, James Madison

Scott caught four passes for 44 yards and one touchdown against Georgia State while adding a 32-yard rush. Through six games, he has 19 receptions for 241 yards and two receiving touchdowns. The latest performance gets my attention, but I want to see more consistent targets before making him a priority addition.

Jaylon Hawkins, San Diego State

Hawkins had 84 receiving yards against Fresno State, bringing his season totals to 12 receptions for 158 yards and two receiving touchdowns through seven games. The redshirt freshman has also made an impact returning kickoffs, but that production does not automatically help our campus lineups. I want to see more consistent receiving opportunities before investing FAAB.

Cole Keller

Tight Ends

Cole Keller, James Madison

Keller caught two passes for 54 yards against Georgia State, bringing his season totals to 18 receptions for 325 yards and four touchdowns through seven games. He also caught four passes for 108 yards and a touchdown against Georgia Southern the previous week. The receiving production makes him an interesting campus tight end, especially in leagues with a tight end premium.

Eric Olsen, Oregon State

Olsen caught three passes for 73 yards against Washington State, bringing his season totals to 30 receptions for 353 yards and three touchdowns through seven games. He has caught at least three passes in every game this season, and that consistent involvement makes him a useful campus option for teams needing help at tight end.

Early Pipeline Targets

Jaylon Hawkins, San Diego State

Hawkins is a redshirt freshman with 12 receptions for 158 yards and two touchdowns through seven games. His special teams production has been impressive, but I am more interested in whether his offensive role continues to grow.

My call: Keep him on the early pipeline watch list before his receiving opportunities become more consistent.
