The Weekly Devy Notebook Vol. 1

Welcome to the first edition of The Weekly Devy Notebook. I like to sit on my couch each week and watch as many college football games as possible while monitoring the latest football odds. I’ve always been a guy who prefers my information live rather than on film if I can. With so many games to watch and players to monitor, I find it difficult to keep track of all the Devy and C2C assets in my rankings. For self-organization, I like to make notes while I’m watching the games of important college players. The idea behind this weekly article series is to provide a window into my player notes (hence the name) and give readers something that is both comprehensive and easy to digest. Anyone can look at the box scores of these college games, but I am here to shed some light on what I am seeing in real time. At the end of each article, I will also compile a list of players I will be keying in on in the following week of college football so you know which games to turn your attention to.

College Football Spring Devy News and Notes: Part 2

Welcome back to another installment of this spring game news and notes series. In part two of this two-part series, I will focus on the remaining teams from which I believe we can draw some relevant information as we make our way through the college football offseason. To reiterate a sentiment from the first part of this series, these games are glorified practices that should be used to find additional information about returning players with question marks and as a way to view new additions to a team.

Clemson Freshman WR Profiles: Bryant Wesco and TJ Moore

The freshman class of wide receivers in 2024 is one of the most exciting classes I can remember. Though the class is highlighted by elite talents in Jeremiah Smith and Micah Hudson, the depth of the class should not be overlooked. In this article, I will dive into two freshman wide receivers who chose to attend the same school. Bryant Wesco and TJ Moore both elected to play this upcoming fall for the Clemson Tigers and both have a chance to be special players on Saturdays and Sundays. Let’s jump in.

DFF In-Season Startup: Valuing the 2024 Rookie Class

This article will be centered around the incoming rookies, along with my current projections for where they will be taken in a Superflex startup draft. For flexibility, I have broken down the best of the rookies into tiers since we have to wait a while longer until we find out their NFL draft capital and team situations. Below, I have listed my current Superflex rankings with a tier break to separate each group of players. I will then take a deeper dive into each of the players listed to provide a better idea of where they (or their potential 2024 dynasty draft picks) should be considered throughout the DFF mock draft.

Devy Spotlight: Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter

In case you missed it this past weekend, Colorado traveled to Fort Worth to take on a ranked TCU team. The result was a 45-42 victory in a game that could end up being one of the best of the year in college football. Deion Sanders making the jump from Jackson State to Colorado has placed the Buffaloes firmly in the national spotlight, and he brought some fantastic football players with him. Perhaps the two brightest stars that joined Deion in Colorado are his son, Shedeur Sanders, and his favorite playmaker, Travis Hunter.

Sifting through the Colts’ Chaos: What Should You Do With Your Indianapolis Players?

The Colts managed to make August an extremely stressful month for fantasy managers who roster any of their key offensive position players. Anthony Richardson was named the starter behind an injured offensive line, their starting all-pro running back is in a stand-off with the front office over a new contract, their young tight end was placed on injured reserve, and all but three wide receivers were cut before the deadline.

Father’s Day: Famous Bloodlines within the College Ranks

One of the most challenging aspects of assessing the college landscape is projecting draft capital for players that will someday find themselves on our draft boards. It’s no secret that the higher up in the NFL draft a player goes, the better the chances that they become a valuable dynasty asset in the fantasy space.

The New-Look Cardinals Receiving Corps

With the recent departure of DeAndre Hopkins, the Arizona Cardinals are looking toward a rebuild. What they do over the next 12 months will be pivotal for the team’s future in competing for the divisional crown in the NFC West and returning to the playoffs. With the 49ers and Seahawks set up very well for both the immediate and long-term future, it is imperative that the Cardinals get this transition correct. In this article, I assess this transition period’s impact on the viable fantasy options within the Cardinals’ offense.
