Kadarius Toney was drafted 20th overall by the New York Giants, becoming the fourth wide receiver and 20th overall player in the 2021 NFL Draft.

In four seasons at Florida, Toney compiled 120 receptions for 1,590 yards and 12 touchdowns. Toney also carried the ball 66 times for 580 yards and two touchdowns during his college career. He didn’t see the field a ton during his first three seasons, but he turned into a star his Senior year. He caught 70 passes for 984 yards and 10 touchdowns to go along with 161 rushing yards and another touchdown. He was used strictly as a Wide Receiver his Senior year, whereas he was used as more of a utility player during his first three seasons. His 10 receiving touchdowns placed him tied for seventh in the country amongst Wide Receivers in 2020.
STRENGTHS
Toney is one of the more athletic wide receivers in the draft. He shows great burst and big-play abilities after the catch. As a runner, he is slippery, and he makes defenders miss at a constant rate. He has great speed, and he is dangerous down the field on vertical routes. He was used as a utility player on offense during his first three seasons, and this gives him the ability to excel with jet sweeps, bubble screens, and reverses. He shows elite separation abilities, and he has great stop-go elusiveness.
WEAKNESSES
The Florida product is still raw at the receiver position. He could potentially become an elite route-runner, but he shows too many inconsistencies for now. He lacks size and strength, and he struggles to work through contact. He’s a poor run blocker and shows minimal effort when attempting to block at times. Toney also had that incident where he threatened to shoot people on campus while holding an assault rifle.
ATHLETIC TESTING
At his Florida Pro Day, Toney measured in at 6’0” and 193 lbs. Which equates to a BMI of 26.45. He ran a 4.4-second 40-yard dash, equating to a 102.99-Speed Score, and at 6’0” that is a 100.58-Height Adjusted Speed Score, both figures are in the top 64th percentile or higher. Toney’s Pro Day performance was very good. He showed elite jumping abilities. His 39.5” vertical jump placed him tied for 8th among wide receivers entering the draft. BUT he showed off during his broad jump. Toney finished with the best broad jump out of any player entering the draft (136”). He also dominated the speed tests. He finished toward the top at his position running the three-cone in 6.88 seconds (9th) and the short shuttle in 4.25 seconds (11th). As mentioned before, he lacks strength. He finished with a measly nine reps on the bench press at 225 lbs, which was actually the fourth-worst at his position.

Toney was selected with the 20th-overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft by the New York Giants. He should slide into the slot receiver spot.
Opposing defenses should struggle against an offensive unit that features Kenny Golladay, Sterling Shepard, Darius Slayton, Saquon Barkley, and now Toney.
FANTASY INSIGHTS
Toney will likely serve as a WR2/3 for his new team. He joins a crowded wide receiver room that already has Kenny Golladay, Sterling Shepard, and Darius Slayton. He should battle for the starting slot receiver position for New York. Don’t expect a ton of fantasy impact this season, but he should have no problem producing at a decent level for years to come. He’s a top-15 wide receiver in this class, and he should be a top-100 wide receiver overall this year. He’s easily comparable to Anthony Miller (Bears) from a fantasy standpoint. He projects to be a WR6/7 starting the season, and he’s worth drafting in Dynasty Leagues in the mid-to-late rounds.
