Dart was a four-star recruit who originally attended Southern California where he started as a freshman. Then for his last three collegiate seasons, he transferred to Mississippi. He put together a solid resume but this past season Dart was most impressive as he went 10-3 as a starter and had a very impressive stat line. This past season Dart won the C Spire Conerly Trophy, which recognizes the top college football player in the State of Mississippi. He was also a finalist for the Manning Award and the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award. Additionally, he was a semifinalist for the Maxwell Award, the Walter Award, and the Davey O’Brian Award.

STRENGTHS
Most impressive about Dart is that he’s a three-year SEC starter who improved in play and production every single season. He has a stocky build and even with average physical traits he makes up with his great makeup and intangibles. Even though he’s not a running quarterback he can find extra yards and is mobile enough with good vision to pick up first downs on the ground. He does a great job of getting across the full field of progressions when he needs to and is a solid situational decision-maker on third downs. Dart excels at recognizing potential trouble and getting away from it. He’s great at beating man coverage on predetermined throws and is very accurate with his back-should fades. Dart throws with accuracy and has good drive velocity between the hashes. I like his moxie as he uses altered snap counts to draw defenses into committing pre-snap penalties.

WEAKNESSES
The first noticeable red flag with Dart is that he will need to work with better anticipation on non-scripted throws and decisiveness to win in tight windows as a pro mainly in zone. Dart has been compared to game managers and will need to shake that label. On the field he has room for improvement with his footwork that forces him into muscled throws at times He’s also shown inconsistencies with decisiveness in his reads. Additionally, his throws feel difficult when he’s forced to work off-platform and his deep throws lack energy and often force receivers to break stride.
ATHLETIC TESTING
At the Combine, Dart measured 6’ 2” and 223 lbs. His arms measured 30” with a hand size of 9 ½”. He didn’t participate in the athletic drills besides throwing which he was impressive in. He finished with an NFL NextGen Stats composite score of 78, ranking him 4th amongst quarterbacks in the class and projecting him to have the potential to develop into a starter. Dart has all the tools and makeup you look for in a quarterback prospect with good arm strength, accuracy, and the ability to make throws on the move. He also processes the ability to make anticipatory throws which will help him to succeed at the next level with further development.

FANTASY INSIGHTS
I have Jaxson Dart ranked as the second quarterback in this year’s class for projected future Dynasty value and that’s exactly how we got drafted but he also has sleeper potential. He’s an underrated prospect and has generated more buzz throughout the draft process
Expect Dart to be selected somewhere in the early to mid-second round of Dynasty Fantasy Football drafts with this excellent long-term landing spot. His immediate upside though is capped with the Giants currently having Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston in front of him. One would expect those two would battle for the starting job since they both just signed with the team this offseason but if the Giants season goes south at that point I’d expect Dart to get his shot. Once he gets his chance, Dart is in a great landing spot with a true alpha wide receiver to throw to in Malik Nabers. His short-term future with the Giants is in question but long-term I love this landing spot for Dart as he has a real shot of being successful as the team continues to build. Dart, if given a chance this season could have a similar trajectory as Bo Nix and I do see that as what his future projections could look like. He’s an underrated player who can prove many wrong just as Nix did last season.
