4 Dynasty Rookie Buy Lows

Are your Dynasty rookie drafts over? Did you miss out on one of your favorite sleepers?

The time is still ripe to acquire those hidden gems before they start tearing up training camps and putting starters on notice.

Below are four of my favorite cheap Dynasty rookies with average draft positions in Superflex Dynasty rookie drafts after pick 30.

Bucky Irving

We will start with Bucky Irving, who currently has a Dynasty Rookie Draft average draft position of 32.

Irving was a pre-combine Dynasty favorite.

Then he had an atrocious Combine low-lighted by his 4.55 second 40-yard dash time.

Then the NFL Draft came, and he found a nice landing spot with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Rachaad White was not an efficient RB in the NFL last year as a rusher. His prowess comes more in the receiving game, where he is an elite option.

Irving was top-six in the class in missed forced tackles per attempt, yards after contact, and explosive run %. He also was second in target share among running backs.

When asked about Irving, Bucs Head Coach Todd Bowles had this to say:

“He can make the first guy miss more often than not, and that’s a rare trait to have in this ball game… To make a guy miss, the first guy miss, and potentially have big play ability is something that we didn’t have a lot of last year.”

Make no mistake, there is some Rachaad White shade in this quote.

Further, new Bucs OC Liam Coen went on to say, “When he (Irving) accepts the handoff, he bursts and accelerates through the hole and can make people miss in space. Rachaad, he has taken every detail that we’ve coached throughout this offseason and applied it. That is something that we’ve worked on and that we’ve been communicating to him, and really all the backs, is just that we are fast too and fast through [the hole].”

Reading between the lines, it seems the Bucs staff has a plan for Irving, and it would be good to have some shares in Dynasty.

Luke McCaffrey

I have 75% exposure on McCaffrey in my own Dynasty leagues just so you know I am putting my money where my mouth is.

McCaffrey is 34th overall in Dynasty rookie draft ADP. He is the 18th wide receiver off the board.

In my proprietary WR1 analytical model located here, which grades incoming rookie wide receivers on 13 predictive metrics for future Fantasy success, McCaffrey graded out as the WR14.

His most impressive metric performance by far was his college career fantasy points per game. McCaffrey converted to wide receiver full-time his junior year. In his junior and senior years, he averaged a very impressive 18.6 fantasy points per game. THIS RANKED NUMBER ONE IN THE ENTIRE CLASS FOR COLLEGE CAREER FANTASY POINTS PER GAME STARTED AT WIDE RECEIVER.

It was better than Nabers, better than Harrison, better than Odunze, better than everyone.

He also posted an excellent athletic profile. His size-adjusted athleticism, as measured by his relative athletic score, graded out at 9.44 out of 10. This is highlighted by his 4.02 shuttle and 6.7 three-cone times. Those two metrics are highly coveted in NFL circles. McCaffrey has the tools to develop into an elite slot receiver in the NFL.

Tyrone Tracy

Diving deeper into the Dynasty rookie draft ADP, at 44th overall, we find another converted position player, Tyrone Tracy of the New York Giants.

Purdue finally figured out how best to deploy Tracy’s freakish athleticism in 2023; something Iowa was unable to solve during his four seasons with the Hawkeyes.

2

This 9.78 out of 10 score was second in the entire running back class, behind only Isaac Guerendo.

Tracey played wide receiver for four years at Iowa before transferring to Purdue and eventually converting to running back in Year 6.

Tyrone Tracy has some eye-popping advanced metrics.

38.5% MTF/A

13.5% explosive run

4.18 YAC

Each of these was top two in this RB class.

Devin Singletary had a solid last year in Houston but, for the most part, would be considered an NFL journeyman.  Tracy has a path to touches in that offense.

Malik Washington

Finally, a deep cut I like is Malik Washington, who currently boasts an ADP of 45 in Dynasty rookie drafts.

Washington didn’t do much during his time at Northwestern. However, Virginia saw something in him, and when he transferred to be a Cavalier, he blew up.

This past season, Washington was:

1st in this class in weighted dominator rating

2nd best in contested target rate

2nd in receiving yards per team pass attempt

2nd in yards per route run

2nd in PFF Receiving Grade

His breakout was very late, but when it came, it was massive. His path to targets isn’t fantastic behind Waddle, Hill, and Beckham, but McDaniel was a noted fan and will look to get him snaps.
