What We Learned This Week
Miami’s defense came to play, drubbing of the Cam Newton-led Carolina Panthers at home. From the opening kickoff, the Dolphins defenders were terrific, creating three interceptions, registering five sacks, and blocking a punt for a touchdown in the victory. Jaelan Phillips, Emmanuel Ogbah, and Christian Wilkins lead the way for the Miami IDP producers.
Don’t look now, but the Bengals’ defense just stifled division rival Pittsburgh in Cincinnati on Sunday. The Bengals forced three turnovers and collected three sacks in addition to scoring a touchdown in the game. IDP stars for Cincinnati were Mike Hilton, B.J. Hill, and Trey Hendrickson.
Justin Herbert and the Chargers’ offense could not figure out the Denver Broncos’ defense on Sunday. At home, the Broncos defenders managed to create three sacks, two interceptions, and a touchdown in the win. Players with big statistical games for Denver include Patrick Surtain II, Justin Simmons, and Kyle Fuller.
Top Player Performances
Rasul Douglas – CB – GREEN BAY PACKERS
Douglas had another remarkable game at cornerback against Matthew Stafford and the Los Angeles Rams. In his effort, Douglas accrued six total tackles, defended four passes, and took an interception to the house in Lambeau Field on Sunday. Douglas is a great option in BestBall leagues and is in a prime position to contribute in the IDP playoffs.
Darius Leonard – LB – INDIANAPOLIS COLTS
Leonard, a 26-year-old fourth-year beast out of South Carolina State had a monster day on Sunday. In Week 12, his 15 total tackles, forced fumble, and pass defensed were a major factor, keeping the Colts in the game until the very end. Leonard could easily be the cornerstone for an IDP championship run.
Ronnie Harrison – S – CLEVELAND BROWNS
The third-round pick in the 2018 NFL draft, Harrison made an impact in multiple ways against Baltimore last weekend. His statistics included 14 total tackles, an interception, and a defended pass in the game. At 24 years old, Harrison is starting to show signs of a starting IDP value, averaging over six total tackles per game over his last three appearances. Now could be a sneaky time to lure his services from another owner if your trade deadline has not passed.
Notable Injuries
Fred Warner and Dre Greenlaw – LBs – SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS
Warner and Greenlaw are expected to miss Week 13 with injuries. Warner will likely miss with a hamstring strain. Greenlaw was activated off injured reserve last week following core muscle surgery but had to exit the game early after appearing to suffer a setback. Azeez Al-Shaair could have a massive game if both Warner and Greenlaw are out against the Seahawks.
Quincy Williams – LB – NEW YORK JETS
Williams suffered the calf injury Sunday against the Texans, which forced him to miss some snaps in the game. The injury doesn’t appear to be serious, but monitor the practice reports this week. If Williams misses Week 13, a player like Jarrad Davis could see an increased role.
