2022 DFF Draft Coverage: Khalil Shakir

Khalil Shakir | Boise State 6’0” 196 lbs. | 2/3/2000 (Age 22)

ESPN analyst calls this Day 3 receiver a perfect fit for Patriots

Khalil Shakir was drafted with the 5th pick in the fifth round by the Buffalo Bills, becoming the 21st wide receiver and 148th overall player in the 2022 NFL Draft.

COLLEGE PRODUCTION

Shakir had 199 catches in four seasons for the Broncos, along with 20 TDs. In his senior season, he had 77 catches for 1,117 yards and 7 TDs. He had modest production in his first three seasons.

FILM

Shakir shows elite ball skills and tremendous open-field ability. Watch the catch at the 1:00 mark!

ATHLETIC TESTING

Shakir did very well at the combine, posting a 4.43 forty, 10’4” broad jump, and a 38.5” vertical leap. This earned him an 8.32 relative athletic score, likely due to his slower three-cone time of 7.28. He is a dynamic athlete.

DRAFT ANALYSIS

Rapid Reaction to Draft Capital: Poor

Rapid Reaction to Landing Spot: Poor

Shakir was selected with the 148th-overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft by the Bills.

FANTASY INSIGHTS

Shakir is a talented wide receiver that can carve himself a role in the NFL. The Bills have a very talented wide receiver room already with Stefon Diggs, Gabriel Davis, and Jamison Crowder. It will be very difficult for Shakir to find meaningful snaps and I would probably be avoiding him in all fantasy formats other than deeper dynasty leagues. I expect him to go somewhere in the late third or later of rookie drafts.

Stay sharp out there and remember, you only have to be better than half your league-mates on average to be a perennial playoff team. Let’s keep balling! Look for more of my articles soon.
