2022 DFF Draft Coverage: Jordan Davis

Jordan Davis | Georgia 6’6” 341 lbs. | 1/12/2000 (Age 22)

The 8 safest NFL Draft picks in 2022, from Kyle Hamilton to Jordan Davis | Sporting News

Jordan Davis was drafted 13th pick of the first round by the Philadelphia Eagles, becoming the first defensive tackle and 13th overall player in the 2021 NFL Draft.

COLLEGE PRODUCTION

Another former Freshman All-American drafted in the first round here, Davis started four games in his true freshman season before becoming a regular starter as a sophomore. He stayed for his senior season and dominated everyone he played up front. Davis won the Chuck Bednarik Award and also won the Outland Trophy as one of the top defenders in the country. He posted 5.5 TFLs and two sacks in his senior season while being double and sometimes triple-teamed every play.

ATHLETIC TESTING

Davis is a literal “mountain of a man,” standing at an imposing 6’6” and 341 lbs. His athletic testing was off-the-charts (in a really good way). He ran a 4.78 in the 40-yard dash at 341 lbs–a feat that has never been done. His vertical and broad jumps were impressive as well for his size, at 32 inches and 123 inches respectively. Though Davis is an excellent run-stuffer, his athleticism allows optimism for pass-rush potential to develop later.

DRAFT ANALYSIS

Rapid Reaction to Draft Capital: Excellent

Rapid Reaction to Landing Spot: Above-Average

Jordan Davis was selected with the 13th overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft by the Philadelphia Eagles.

FANTASY INSIGHTS

Davis is a nose tackle with the size, power, and desire to clog the drain and alter an offense’s intention to run the ball between the tackles. He goes to a team with excellent veteran interior defensive linemen in Fletcher Cox and Javon Hargrave. Still, Davis can start immediately if needed, and it will be interesting to see what the Eagles do with their surplus at the position. Davis offers limited upside as a rusher, but can definitely put up fantasy points with TFLs against the run. However, do not draft him earlier than the third round in IDP dynasty rookie drafts. If your league does not require you to start a DT at all, then he could go undrafted.
